Something that I often say to wishful people...How does it feel to want?

My round one picks...
Round1Pics.jpg

Hehehe. I don't have to want. Our 20 year tear is going on along very nicely. 20 straight playoff appearances with four cups one. If you're a player in the NHL and you play in Detroit you have a 20% chance at raising the chalice, pretty good odds if you ask me.

In reality though I think the Canucks will be raising the trophy this year.

In reality theyve only made it 11 straight playoff appearances... Your prediction of the cup winner is about as off as your team history. lol.

Lockout doesn't count. It's 20. I believe its also the record for all of major sports.

Don't be jealous.

:p

From Wiki: More recently, the Red Wings have made the playoffs in 25 of the last 27 seasons, including the last 20 in a row (1991–2011). This is the longest current streak of post-season appearances in all of North American professional sports.

I am from montreal!

GO BRUINS!!!! Lucic, Seguin , Chara, Bergie, Thomas, krecji, Horton! So many talent on this team!

The first round of the NHL playoffs is my favourite part of the hockey season. For two weeks, there are at least two games almost every single night.

Agreed, after watching the first two nights I think the Rangers-Caps is going to be the best series.

You guys in the east go to be too early to get some real hockey! Last nights Sharks vs Kings game was AWESOME. GO SHARKS! EAT LA!:D

I didn't give LA much of a chance with Kopitar and Williams out. With Williams back, LA looked like they have a fighting chance at least. I'm glad to see a close game. It's a long series, and I think the depth of SJ will eventually be too much for LA.

The last day of the regular season was really interesting. Chicago failed to get a point against Detroit in a game that means nothing to the Wings. Then they had to wait for Dallas to choke against Minnisota to get in to face the Canucks.

Canucks had an early lead and was able to roll 4 lines against the Hawks. Meanwhile, the Hawks played their top line a lot but was unable to score against Luongo. It's nice to see all top 6 D-men for the Canucks healthy for only the second time this year. Looks like Edler has recovered from his back surgury (7 hits) and Hamhius from his concussion (over 20 minutes of ice time). Losing Malholtra for the season was a big blow and with Torres out for 2 games, there are issues with the third line. Who knew that the Sedin line would be the ones filling in that third line role while Higgins and Hanson would be doing the scoring? It's going to be a long series and this is just one game.

Looking at the western standings, I thought that only LA would possibly be the easy team to beat. Even Dallas who barely missed the playoffs could be a dangerous opponent with Richards back in the line-up. After watching the SJ-LA game last night, it just shows that it is not the case.

The biggest upset after 1 game would be the Canadian's win over Boston. Canadians have a depleted line-up of smaller players compared to Boston. Right now, I think that Thomas is clearly the best goalie in the league right now. Price is trying to make everyone forget about what's-his-name who lead the Canadians to an unexpected playoff run last year and was traded away. He's sure making everyone forget about the upcoming election. They had to reschedule the party leader's debate, so as not to conflict with the playoff game.

The West is where its at. We have the toughest division in hockey in the Pacific. Theres a lot to be said about a division when almost all five teams make the playoffs.

Red Wings putting the Yotes in deeper. I'm sure the Sharks annual first round implosion will begin in earnest.

:p

I can't see LA getting by SJ in the first round. I was impressed with LA's play in game 1. I think they can steal a game, but with a depleted line up in the middle, it's going to be very difficult.

The Canadians just won two games in Boston. I never saw that coming.

Canucks need one more win to advance to the second round. Came back after being down 1-0 early in the first and then killed a 5 on 3 penalty. Luongo made two great saves on Kane. Good bounce back game after looking mediocre in game 2.

The refs seem to be calling the game really tight. A lot of calls against both teams were really soft. Quite a departure compared to how the first two games were called. I saw a few marginal calls that would not have been penalties the first two games.

Looks like Torres is going to get another suspension. His hit on Seabrook looked a lot like his hit on Eberle that got him 4 games. It was a blind side hit to the head of Seabrook before he played the puck. He can't be undisciplined like that. He even got a penalty earlier for a high hit.

I hope this means we get to see Hodgson back in the line-up. For a rookie, he played pretty well in games 1 and 2. He didn't make any major mistakes, generated a few scoring chances and got an assist. He's a natural centre, unlike Raymond who is playing centre in Malhotra's absence.

As much as I dislike the Nucks, I wish Manny a quick recovery. I really miss him in our line up. He's a great player and person. It was really hard watching him get injured like that.
