Any N.O.V.A. players?

Anyone here play N.O.V.A. (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD)?

Looking for some players to play with. Post your Gameloft ID.

Add me: CoLLiSioN47

Bought it a few weeks back as it was meant to be "amazing". Tried it, it was shite, uninstalled. Good old gameloft won't give refunds either.

I will not buy any Gameloft games unless offered on market and with same 24hr return policy. Some of their games are very good, but matter of principle- offer in the market.

Gameloft must be losing a LOT of revenue selling games for Android like this. Foolish.

Aww, was your phone not upto the job then? :p

It played it fine, it's the game itself that was poor. No decent control method (surprise surprise really), shite graphics, very slow paced to compensate for the bad controls and stupid AI. Reminded me of a crap version of goldeneye, which was shockingly bad anyway compared to proper FPS games of the time.

The graphics are very good for a mobile game and controls are fine, not sure what you've been smoking.

Your not going to get much better on your Desire. :p

The graphics ARE shite (comparable to goldeneye at best IMO) and an FPS is never going to be great on a touchscreen, I only tried it because people on here said the controls were actually half decent on it. Which they aren't, but already kinda knew what to expect.

The Kwaak3 port looks great and runs well, just again held back by the lack of a decent control method.

And you really are a fool if you think the desire will struggle to run high end games. It manages perfectly fine when games are actually coded well rather than simply ported with no real thought. You think what you like though, you obviously just came on here to make out every other handset is inferior to yours. ;)

The controls on NOVA are allot better than Kwaak3, NOVA has aim assit which is very much required for touchscreen, kwaak3 does not.

Based on specs alone the snapdragons are not as strong, argue all you want but it's going to change anything.

Blame it on coding all you want...

Agreed, but it is still poor when you're used to playing proper FPS games on a comp.

And yes the snapdragon specs aren't as good as say a Galaxy S or whatever else will come out in the following months, not saying they are, but they are still far from long in the tooth like you're trying to make out, and can still play all the current stuff as well as other handsets provided it's optimised.

Snapdragon don't even match performance of the old iphone when it comes to graphics performance, nevermind the Galaxy S or Droid X.

Here..

the 200MHz PowerVR SGX 530 core manages double the frame rate of the Adreno 200 in the Nexus One’s Snapdragon. Even the 110MHz SGX 530 is faster.

Not that great...

Debating points/opinions is fine but insults are not tolerated.

I apologise, I'm just getting sick of having to repeat myself on numerous threads just because someone likes making out that everything but HIS phone is shite. I still didn't type anything massively offensive though, so still not too sure why a mod needed to edit it.

And that FPS comparison on Quake 3 is irrelevant IMO shocky, as that isn't a proper game optimised to play well on android phones is it. Quake 3 was programmed to depend heavily on any hardware acceleration present in the PC, so if a handset has some kind of improved GPU, then of course it'll run quicker in this instance. My point is pretty much every proper game runs identically regardless of handset, provided your CPU isn't sub 800mhz, as they AREN'T programmed to depend on hardware acceleration. Not yet, anyway.

Fancy getting back on topic now? I'm bored.

I think we will have to agree to disagree, my opinion of the current gen of snapdragon based phones is not going to change, but I do think they were a step in the right direction.

haha , StuartTheFish is everywhere on all games threads :P
but actually , I agree with you
when coded to properly to use only the cpu (or the internal GPU) , these games would run fine

all what we are getting are ports , no high end original games here .. yet

Well I never said Snapdragon can't handle the latest 3d games, only that it's it's barely matches the old droid/iphone when it comes to graphics performance.

With the right coding they will get the games working but the performance or visuals will not be exactly the same and more work is required to optimise for them, of course if the games are fairly simplistic to start with then theres no reason they shouldnt be the same.

Another example.

Actually...

Aww, was your phone not upto the job then? :p

the latest Android phones like Droid X and Galaxy S have no problem, snapdragon based phones are a little behind though.

just means they have to reduce visual quality, or users have to put-up with poor framerates/lag.

These posts by you imply that the snapdragon handsets can't even handle today's games, which is WHY I've been arguing the toss with you! :D

Actually...

That's WHY I've been arguing the toss with you! :D

I don't think you understand what I've been saying, the snapdragon when it comes to 3d graphics is lagging behind in raw performance, that doesnt mean you can't play the current Android games and at no point did I ever say that.

With most high end phones based on snapdragon that's obviously not going to happen.

Anyway, your quoting out of context, the point was that Android gaming will never be the same level as the iPhone with the majority of phones using snapdragon, iPhone 4 uses SGX535 I believe and snapdragon in it's current form is a little slower than the SGX530 "Droid, Old iPhone"

So games designed for these devices may not work well without graphics being reduced to increase performance.

Anyway, time to move on, I'm not sure how many ways I can say the same thing.
