Any place to buy/download movies formatted for the EVO?

I'm going from a Blackberry to an EVO tomorrow. One of the things I would like to do is get several movies loaded up on the EVO. I just have no idea how. Is there any kind of online place that sells movie downloads formatted for the EVO? If not what is my best bet to get some movies? Also, how much space does a typical 2hr movie take up on a micro sdhc card? Thanks!

nope. As far as I know, no movie studios or distributors allow unencrypted, drm-free movie downloads. I would recommend ripping DVD movies or Blurays that you own. Breaking the encryption is illegal technically but making backups for personal viewing is fair use. Only other option I'm aware of would be illegal downloading which I cannot recommend. Unfortunately as of now the only real legal digital purchasing venues require special decryption in order to use and as far as I know, there is none of that on Android.

Good question. If you research there is a thread regarding copying dvd's and then putting them on your evo. I already have mp4 movies for my itouch, so hopefully they will play on it.

The screen is so big, that movies should really look nice on it.

Thanks for the answer. Most of the movies I want on my EVO I already own on Blu-Ray. So I guess I just need to find a way to pull off a digital copy.

If you're working with a single video file (like an AVI or something), you can use Handbrake (free) to do the rest of the work.

I started with "iPhone & iPod Touch" and created a preset off of that, then on the "Picture" Tab:
- Set the container to "MP4 File".
- Increased the picture resolution (my video was only 704*368 though, so I couldn't go beyond that).
On the "Video Tab":
- Set Video Codec to "H.264 (x.264)
- Set the Avg Bitrate to 1500.

I don't have my EVO yet so I can't guarantee that that will do the trick, but I'll definitely test it.

This will prob. work.....id say it you have itunes buy ur movies there and use doubletwist to bring it over to your phone...i think that should work...thats what im going to try first.

Yes this is your best bet. Just buy used DVD's from Amazon or Ebay. You'll save tons of $$ and when you switch devices "you will switch devices" you'll be able to keep your movies.

That's how I got Avatar on my PSP and it looks sweet!

Does anyone know the formats supported by the EVO?

I have a hero, so I presume the same formats.. just, 800x480 :) :) :)

Mp4.. but.. MAYBE divx? Is there a listing somewhere of them?

I know they said there won't be Divx support...so I assume Xvid is also out. Which kind of sucks. There are numerous "pirate" sites that have video in mp4/h.264 video formats.

Is there an equivalent to handbrake for music files? I'm looking to put my itunes music into mp3's.

Are you talking about protected iTunes music that you bought from the iTunes store or just music that you ripped from CDs into iTunes?

i've read that u can download movies from the same site for iphone, there all mp4 format, there's a android section on there that states it works, here's the site i4iPhones

I use Windows Media Center to record some TV shows on my computer. I am not at home to check what type of files are saved or even where WMC saves them, but does anyone know if those videos would be compatible with the EVO?
