I came from Nokia phones and Nokia made it their job to provide a map application that works without a cellular data connection.'
The Map application on my standard Galaxy S looks is Google Maps and it doesn't work without a connection, even when my phone has tons of memory. Such an application has no real world need and is useless.
I don't need maps when I am in my home city. I need maps when I am out of town. I can't afford to pay $20 per roamin MB just to use the map. After five minutes I would have spent enough to buy two Nokia smartphones.
Don't tell me that I have to go to Market to download or buy. I don't like to report my location to some stranger three times per second. And that requires a data connection anyway.
How about a compass application? According to the specs, the Galaxy S has a compass. My phone doesn't come with a compass application.
Thanks.
