Exactly this. Theres not much to it, but give it a thorough read and it'll be easy. After your phone in plugged in, the rooting process takes a matter of seconds. I dont know if its necessary, but I think I read this while installing TWRP/cleanROM... someone said to root before the OTA. Not sure if it still applies, I know things are contantly being updated. Just read throught the whole process a couple times. I read about a lot of guys screwing up their phones... hell, I was one of them.
If you do want to go the flashing ROM route, be sure not to format the entire phone while in twrp. I did and I ended up wiping everything including the current OS and the rom I wanted to flash. I was stuck in an infinite loop because my phone had no operating system... but even that is fixable. So dont do what I did!
I was able to do it after the OTA when I got mine, just over a week ago. Did the OTA in the store before really looking into more, but the Root went fine for mine.
