Is there any screen protectors that don't suck? I love the feel and look of the naked screen but after getting a few hair line scratches i wanted to put screen protector on before anything serious happened. I first tried the Zagg from best buy and I did not like how it felt rubbery. My fingers wouldn't slide across it easily and the touch response was worse. I also didn't like the orange peel look it had and how it caused a rainbow effect on the screen. Doing some research and reading reviews, the SGP ultra crystal clear seemed like one of the best screen protectors. So I put on the SGP and I'm not happy with that one either. It has better touch response and is smoother than the Zagg but it makes the screen look grainy. I hate how it makes the screen look. Are there any better options or am I SOL?

I know, but after getting those few fine scratches got me worried. This is my first smart phone and I plan on keeping it for 2 years until the contract is up and I don't want it looking like crap for the last year and a half. Just wish there was better screen protector options.
I threw on a Zagg recently and got rid of it in about 5 days. Same complaints about the rubbery, sticky feel.
My Nillkin case included a free screen protector so I tried that. So far I'm very happy with it. My install was nearly perfect, except for a small bubble on the lower edge over the Home button that is hardly noticeable. If I hadn't had to peel and reset it, it could be perfect. Good thing about it is the look and feel is very close to the bare screen -- Shiny/smooth. I have more cases on order that will have more screen protectors so I might try another install.

Weird. I see zero graininess on my RAZR with the SGP Ultra Crystal screen protector. It's like it's not even there. But it does smudge too easily.
Eye of the beholder, I guess.

I use the Steinheil Anti Fingerprint screen protector. It takes away from the screen for sure as it's not a crystal clear but to me it's worth it. Got tired of having to wipe off my phone screen all day and it protects from scratches.

Gorilla Glass is marketing hype. Go ahead and drop your phone face down onto a hard floor. But before you do that, put half a teaspoon of sand in your pocket along with the razr. Let us know how it goes after a day.

I would like a screen protector that helps daylight viewing. Any suggestions?
I got rid of the Nillkin protector and put on a Seidio to try on. The Seidio is a very thin film, and it shows prints less than the Nillkin...but still more than the bare screen.
Now on order is a mybat protector I want to try. I have the print-resistant one on another phone.

The Skinomi skin works great. It is the same type of material as the invisa Shield by Zagg but it has a nice smooth finish to it. It does not give the rainbow effect and does not negatively affect touchscreen response. Just remember to make sure that your screen is perfectly clean and wash your hands well, wet all fingers on both your hands and lightly spray screen and soak both sides of film as you pull off backing. When you apply line up and press gently from the middle out. keep checking for larger bubbles for the first hour or so of drying time to work out the big ones, and make sure you lightly spray the screen to keep from scratching or stretching it. When it dries it will look great and no rainbows.
I got an accessory pack with my new Razor and pulled the screen protector off after a day, couldn't stand it anymore.
FWIW, my Droid (original bought on the launch date in Nov 2009) has never had a screen protector or case. Its lived in my pocket except when in the car dock or a handelbar bag on the bicycle. Its fallen off the windshield, been dropped, etc and has scratches around the bezel, buttons are all worn off, its been in my pocket when I was wooddorking, laying under the truck changing the transmission fluid. etc. Not a single mark on the screen.

I'm not doubting that, to your eye, you consider your screen to be flawless still. And really, since it's your phone and you obviously plan to hang onto it, that's all that matters. However, it would be an interesting experiment to clean the screen really well, then hold it under a direct light like a lamp or flashlight, and see whether you can't see quite a few light/hairline scratches. Maybe it is completely scratch-free, but the consensus seems to be from umpteen threads on the subject that even Gorilla Glass(R) takes on light scratches over time. If you are the type of person to change phones, say, at least once per year, then it might be worth the extra measure of protection to keep something on it for resale purposes.
So far I am still using the Nillkin screen protector, which is smooth/glossy and much thinner than most standard protectors.
