Help Any setting for how the ringer is low at first, then goes to full volume?

Do all of your phones do the same thing? The first half second-- maybe full second-- of the ringer is low, and then it goes to full volume. I like the feature. But I would think that there would be a setting. Either to turn it on or off-- or to change the duration of the low setting. Anyone know?

I don't believe there is.....it's why there is a modification for those that root called "no ringer volume increase" sorry

Glad someone asked about this....mine does it to.
I personally don't like that feature though.
I can understand why it may be nice to have, but I don't care for it.
There SHOULD be a setting for it, rather than just forcing it upon everyone. :smokingsomb:

Are you using one of the default ringers? I know some of them start out soft and increase in volume after a second. I don't have a problem with this.

Never! ;) Haha. No, right now, I'm rocking Rhodey's ringtone from the first Iron Man. It does it with any ringer.

It's good to know that others have thought about it, too. I don't really care to do any rooting or modding on this phone, so I'll still with it as is. Maybe they'll stick an option in there in an update.

I actually quite like the feature..... Means that I don't jump out of my skin in a quiet room when the phone rings, lol. I agree there should be an option to disable it though.

So what is the modification?

I believe that sntaylor was referring to the custom DjeMBeY ROM's for the i9505 that include an optional package to prevent the increasing ringtone. See, here.

Same here, BUT it kind of depends on the ringtone. With the one I used to use, one "ring cycle" lasted just the amount of time that it was low, then the second one starts on full volume. But with the one I'm using now, it goes to high volume in a part of it that is already on the high end. So it can still have the same effect if I didn't realize the phone was ringing on the lowered volume. So if I could move it around when the volume increases, I would play around with it.

This is what I'm using. I was able to find a version without the background noise online. I think Zedge probably has it.

Out of curiosity, do you have System settings/My device/Call/Increase volume in pocket enabled?

I do not have that feature enabled and my ringer also starts out low before increasing to where it has been set. Annoying that there isn't a way to defeat this "feature."

Download "disable increasing ring", in the Market. Works perfectly on the S4

Nice! I like the simplicity of the app's title. lol. I'd like to be able to set the amount of time, and I think I want to keep the feature, so I'll probably pass on this app. But now those of you who don't want the feature have your answer!

This is it. Reviews confirm that it works on the S4.

WORKED PERFECT...THANKS!
Now I have my MoJo back...I can play my full Austion Powers ringtone again. That was one thing I didn't like about my S4 but you fixed it. :D

Haha. I used that one back in the day! Is it the tone that the phone rings when Basil calls?

i was about to start a thread about this but then saw it in the thread suggestions after i was done with my subject.

Always wondered why it did that! Only started doing it when i upgraded to JB. Going to get that app now..hopefully it works on my Note.

The "disable increasing ring" app works great and just as it should of course.
I wish I would have known about it earlier. :smokingsomb:

Something else that I have noticed after installing this app though....
The delay from when someone calls my phone and starts hearing the ringing sound to when my phone ACTUALLY rings has been improved greatly!

For some reason I have had a huge delay in that aspect ever since I switched to the S4.
People where actually getting irritated in why it was always taking me so long to answer my phone. I told them that I was picking it up on the 3rd ring or so, what where they talking about? They would say no....it always rings 7 or more before you pick it up.
So I called myself from a landline to test it. Sure enough, there was a delay of 3-4 rings
inbetween the time the call was made and when my phone actually rang.
Very weird.
Installing this app for some reason pretty much resolved all of the delay.
Now it only rings on the other end maybe once before my phone starts to ring,
and that's pretty much how it should be imo.

Don'y know if anyone else has experienced this,
or if it was some freak unrelated issue...
but if it was unrelated and was resolved at the same time of installation,
thats some crazy a$$ coincidence. ;)

I noticed in the description of this app that if you have the developer's app Smart Ring, you don't need the Disable Increasing Ring app.

I've been using Shush to control my ringers. Anyone tried Smart Ring/Pro in comparison? I might kill two birds with one stone if Smart Ring compares favorably to Shush.

So it seems like its all newish Samsungs not just the S4 the Ace is fine but on the Ace 2 you get this silly quiet feature,Glad i looked on here as like the rest of you who doesn't like the quite feature i have now installed the Disable increasing ring app.

I didn't feel like downloading any apps so I did some trial and error to figure out that the quiet part of the increasing ringtone before it jumps to regular volume lasts 2.1 seconds. When I made a new ringtone with Ringdroid, which I don't do often, I gave it that much time before the ringtone was actually supposed to start. Problem solved.
