Any success in moving up NE2?

Just wondering if any Inc1 owners looking to buy this phone with upgrade date of dec 29th (my bday! lol) have had any luck getting Verizon to move up their eligibility date. I had them do it so I could get the Inc1 and I am just curious if they would do it again or if anyone has succeeded. Right now, I am just waiting to see how the phone does with the masses I guess, but I am ready to upgrade big time!

The only way to find out is to call and ask. Typically they're pretty flexible about it but I would imagine that eventually Verizon will take a hard-line approach if people do it all the time. My early upgrade to the Thunderbolt (from a Touch pro 2) actually came because I was having issues with my TP2. So they were either going to fix my phone or upgrade me. Now don't make up any excuses to get the upgrade. If you have a legitimate reason for asking for an upgrade then by all means, but if you're just wanting to make up excuses that's on your shoulders. I've found that if you're civil with the person on the other end, they'll try harder to get you an early upgrade.

I just called and asked about moving my upgrade date from 12-28-11. I was told they are not allowing it on the iPhone or 4G phones. I have been a VZ customer for 10 years. I guess if I want the phone sooner, I will be paying the $649 price.
I didn't bother haggling or asking to speak with a supervisor. It is not that important to me. I did use the excuse of not getting good 3G coverage in my residence. I was told I haven't dialed *228 since June 2011. Damn! They know that? My privacy hurts now.

I was told the same thing when I asked about our 2nd line that isn't up till the beginning of February. But I was also told I couldn't order the Rezound till Monday, and I received it yesterday, so I haven't decided whether I will keep trying! LOL I'd really like to get my DH an iphone4s for christmas :)

It never hurts to ask! I got my upgrade date moved up from Jan 28 to Monday, when the Rezound comes out. I made it clear that I was ready to buy the phone as soon as it comes out, and the sales associate agreed to move my upgrade date up. They look at how long you've been with VZW (I switched back to VZW in 2009 when I got my Inc), plan price (I have a 450 minute plan, which is pretty cheap, but the more you pay each month, the better your chances), and payment history. Since I haven't been with VZW for too long and don't have an expensive plan, a spotless payment history went a long way for me.

fyi for what it's worth (i work for a verizon retailer, and tried doing this myself), so i aclled a rep, told her that online, i can get the razr for 249 for some reason. my NE2 is 30, not 50. so she goes, well if you order online right now, you can get your NE2 pricing...meaning 30 off. it's just a glitch and for some reason it was showing as 50 off for me.

moral of the story is, whats the pricings on your myverizon when you sign in? if you're seeing an online discount of 30 or 50, apparently you can get your NE2 right now if you order stuff online. (my NE2 isn't until MARCH and it's telling me i can get it now..however, i'm buying it from myself because i'm gonna make commission off myself lol )

Should work...it's how I got my Incredible early...my NE2 wasn't up for 3 more months, I called, spoke to a manager...not customer service...told him to give me the deal and lock me up for another 2 years. I've been a customer for 10+ and it wasn't a problem at all. my NE2 is also up in late Dec...but I'm sure I'll be picking up the ReZound Monday.

Oh and another bit of advice, if you call them up and say something like, "AT&T is offering me $150 towards any early termination fees if I drop my current carrier, I wondered if you had any offers similar?" Customer Service can't really do much for you anyways. You should ask to speak with Retentions since they can do all sorts of things. Good luck, and don't let the first "no" shoot you down. Customer Service was probably telling you "No there's nothing I can do". Try Retentions, and then don't forget to come back and thank this post. :p

Yeah they told me no the first time I asked for my date to be moved up a measly month for the dinc 1. I sent a second e-mail outlining my time spent with them as a company, how I think they are the best but could be getting quite a discount with the rest of my family on sprint, and they moved it up. I don't feel the urgency I did with the dinc, probably because it is still in great shape and I know it can last. Plus I am curious to see how people like the phone once it really rolls out. Then I will get to work on moving it ahead. Each day I wait gets me closer to my upgrade date anyways!

I asked about moving up my last NE2 (from 12/28) and she said she could do it, but I'd lose the discount, so I'd only get 2 year pricing, which is what I'll get using my last annual upgrade.

Superchaos, that rep was wrong to tell you that you'd have to pay $649 for it. I have the same NE2 date as you do, but you should also have an annual upgrade available. That is what I'm using to get my Rezound. The lady at Telesales also agreed to waive the $20 upgrade fee (what they charge when doing an annual upgrade) and is going to throw in overnight shipping for free. She's going to call me when she get's in on Monday to place my order so I should see it Tuesday.

If you have a My Verizon account log in and see if your line shows that you're able to upgrade (at 2 year pricing). Mine has shown that upgrade available since March 29, 2011. Since we have the same NE2 date yours should be this way also. You might want to call back Verizon and ask about using your annual upgrade, and if it's not there find out why because it should be.

How much is the 1 year price? In my Verizon account it says I'm not eligible for a discount until 11/17/12 and it doesn't show a 1 year option. Are you sure you're paying the $299 or did you purchase the TB at the 1 year cost? I did 2 years on the bolt, although that might change considering how fast the thunderbolt started acting flaky on me.

Speaking of Verizon's website, anyone else notice that the "shop" feature is "temporarily unavailable"? Maybe they're adding the Rezound?

That post was meant for SuperChaos. I changed the post to reflect that now. Sorry for the confusion. I got the Tbolt at full retail, because I figured that there might be some sweet phones by the end of the year. The plan was to get the Tbolt, then when my contract came up switch to a 1 year plan. BUt you know what happened next.

It's like Verizon was reading my mind and said "Oh no, that won't do. We'll just have to eliminate 1 year contracts, NE2's, & annual upgrades. We'll see how he likes that. Buy full retail from us will he? We'll fix him!"

Now that you mention it, I remember them doing away with the 1 year now. Damn shame too considering that some of the phones won't last a whole 2 years.

Although, my parents are considering outright canceling all 5 of their current Verizon lines. The only problem is that they have my sister and her idiot husband on their line and they're always trying to sneak an upgrade past them. I guess I can always give them my older phone and just upgrade sooner than I typically would. That way my parents can eventually drop Verizon completely and my sister and brother-in-law can settle for my hand me downs. :D

4 Lines. I don't see a yearly upgrade anywhere on my account. The LG Dare is still on the plan because my 14 y/o doesn't want anything to do with a cell phone and my wife ruined a Samsung Juke with no coverage a while back, then dropped another phone in the toilet. I thought my daughter would be the one destroying phones. I have some patience. Besides, $299 + $350 ETF does equal $649. I am not planning on leaving big Red after 10 years. I already pay ~$235.00 a month for all the lines.

I am asking SquareTrade if they are going to bump up coverage to $649 since their current limit for a cell phone is $600.

That's odd because you and I would have gotten our Incredibles on the same day. I'm trying to remember if there was any requirements for having the annual upgrade. They had that as an option for almost 5-6 years, they just didn't advertise it. You may want to call Verizon and ask them about it.

UNLESS, are you the primary line on the account? If not when did the primary line upgrade last? The annual upgrade was only available for the primary line, all share lines can only upgrade after 20 months. If I had to guess, the line with the upgrade date in 2013 is the primary line. If it's not, maybe the upgrade was transferred to it (possibly after the accidents with the 2 phones?). The Verizon customer service person may have used that as a way around making you pay retail for a new phone if one of the 2 that were damaged were out of warranty but not eligible for upgrade.

They dropped annual upgrades(along with NE2 discounts -this is your last one if you still have it), if you still had it your one of the lucky few.

So I emailed them and Lauren (a guy I think) called me and e-mailed me that they could not move my 30 dollar NE2 up. I politely told him that I understand but that I do my research on phones and I do not want to be bothered when I sit on my discount for months because I hear of a better phone in the works. I guess now I need to weigh out my options if he sticks to his guns. Bummer.
