Any Time is Grillin Time

Maybe, if I wait long enough, they will get the griddles restocked. :)
I ordered mine online from Wal-Mart. It came in yesterday. I assembled it and seasoned it and made smash burgers for dinner.

Tonight is sausages, onions, and peppers. Teppanyaki will be next week when baseball slows down. I'm just cooking though, no onion volcanoes or flipping knives and spatulas.

I bought a LP grill today. After much study I went with the Weber Spirit II E-310. I contemplated the
two burner smaller brother but thought the sweet spot would be the three burner for cooking surface area and additional BTUs. (30,000 BTU ) It wasn't on sale but it was. It was assembled already. I wouldn't have minded putting the thing together but what the heck. It fired right up with the decade old propane I had and I ran it took ten minutes to reach 650°. I let it burn for a half hour or so. I plan to grill some chicken thighs on it tonight.

My first impressions are that it is quality made. It has stainless burners and stainless splash guards which seem quality. The drip pan seems a little weak in nature but time will tell if it does the job. It has a propane rack to hang the 20# bottle from that has an indicator to give you some clue as to the remaining propane that seems functional. All parts have a ten year replacement guaranty which speaks volumes. I've yet to see more than a couple of years out of a LP cooker without something burning up or rusting out. Weber may be sorry to see me as a consumer. :)

That is the newer version of what I have. The heat deflectors and grates will rust before anything else. Warranty will not cover replacement until they are rusted through.

The grill itself is good. I use mine as often as possible. If you need a cover get it off Amazon, there are some much better ones than the official Weber.

+++1^^^ My Weber that I had for 15+ years I had the heat shields rot out. A cheap replacement at Home Depot. Everything else lasted with no problem, and unlike my Traeger and now my Blackstone, that sat outside year round.

If the burners last, I'll be amazed. That has always been the weak point in every gas grill I've owned. I never minded the grungy look they took on after many uses or the warped grates. But a burned out area of the burner becomes a blow torch. I've never owned stainless burners... perhaps that's the answer. I know cast brass, cast iron, and stamped metal all have their problems.

The virgin cook on the Weber was boneless skinless chicken thighs. I seasoned them up with coarse salt and pepper and a dusting of garlic powder. I mopped them with some BBQ sauce as they were nearing completion. They turned out great. It has been over a decade since I last grilled chicken which made them taste all the better.

I failed to mention the cooking grates. New to me but not likely to Weber. They are triangle shaped bars. Flat on one side and a point on the other. I can see using the flat side to grill some fish in the future.

The only problem I experienced with the grill was getting the temperature down. Half throttle on all three burners hovered around 500°. I was expecting it to be around 400°. Not a problem and I'll figure it out but it cooks quite a bit hotter than the cheap-o grill I have at the cabin.

My son came over to have a look at the new grill. He's a smoker and charcoal grill guy. He liked the grill and I could see him scheming up one for himself. Then we came into the office and had some refreshments and I showed him the Blackstone griddle online. He wants one bad.. BAD!

This is the one I purchased 4 years ago when I purchased my Spirit. It has held up well for being outside and never cleaned. It can get stiff in the winter but it is much thicker than the OEM.
I already ordered and spent quite a bit more for the Weber cover. I'm a firm believer in covers though my cookers sit on a covered patio. Your cover looks legit. I take them off multiple times a week. I wear them out long before the sun harms them. :) The best cover I have ever owned is the oem cover that I purchased with my Traeger smoker eleven years ago. It zips up both ends and is still in great shape. I seriously doubt the cover just ordered or the cover on my Green Mountain smoker will last half that time. I do appreciate the link. For its price, I might just order one for the future.

I see that they make a griddle top for my new Weber. :) Just a quick search yields a number of options available. So far I'm only finding a single grate size for my Weber but see options for a whole surface griddle for the older model. I'm betting there is one to be had with some serious
R&D. I doubt that I invest any time soon but I do see one in my future. I just can't let that griddle concept alone. :)

That rocks! I grilled out brats and buttered and grilled some buns. I put some Herdez Salsa Ranchera sauce and shredded cheddar on mine. It was good but... I can almost smell that sizzling bacon. :)

Today I received the grill cover I ordered Sunday. It fit so I'm good with it. It has Weber printed on the front of it. That's worth at least $20 or so.. right? :)

I grilled out burgers tonight. Three nights grilling in a row.. I might give the grill a rest tomorrow.
Then again, maybe not. I'm having fun. I do plenty of grilling at the cabin but it's always for a group of six-eight and sometimes more. Just grilling for two lets me give the cook a lot of attention. Time to brown my onion slices in butter. Butter and toast the buns too. At the cabin it's a matter of dancing the burgers around while trying to get them all cooked through and not turned into a hockey puck. :)

So I just toasted the pickling spices for my annual corned beef cook. I crush them up with a mortar and pestle in a little bit. My brisket is 16lbs before trimming it. I'm getting tires on my truck, so I'll be in and out throughout the day, but I'll have it brining by the end of the day. Plenty of time to cook it on the July 4th weekend.

I have a sad story to tell. Today my son came over and he had to show me pics of his gift from his bother-in-law. Yesterday he received a box containing two vac sealed top rated Australian Wagyu
ribeye cap steaks. Easily $15 per oz. steaks. They were still beautifully marbled but the vac seals were broken and the steaks were hot. The dry ice they were shipped with was gone and the juice from the steaks had stained the inside of the box. He took the pics and sent them to the company that had shipped the steaks hoping for some satisfaction. Their site clearly states that they are not responsible for shipping delays.... so we'll see. We are always talking grilling this and smoking that when we are together. Rarely does a wonderful cut of Wagyu not find its way into the conversation. It is something that neither of us have had but drool over Youtubing different Wagyu cooks. He was crushed!

Ouch!! That hurts. I've never even contemplated that price for steaks.
