Root Any way to force OS on DX

ls1adam84

Newbie
I have a nicely bricked DX, I get this:

Bootloader
29.01
Err: A5,70,70,00,1F

MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
*Flashing* Battery Low
*Flashing* Cannot Program

Anyone else ever get this?

What was your battery level prior to doing this. never try to do anything with less that 40% is a good rule of thumb. Just let it sit on the charger for a good time I had this problem once and it fixed it. Was then able to boot into recovery.

Well mine wouldn't really either. I was scared $hitless. But I left the phone on the charger overnight and the next day it was able to boot into recovery. May have just been a fluke though.

Yes you can charge the battery in another droid x or a wall charger. There is also a way to splice a spare USB cable so it will charge the battery and trick the phone into thinking it has a fully charged battery.

NOTE: I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE DONE TO ANY PHONE, BATTERY, ETC. FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH CAUTION TO AVOID RISK OF DAMAGE.

1. Take your cable and cut off one of the ends, leaving a standard USB plug at the opposite end to plug into your computer.

2. Now you need to strip about and inch of the wire off until you get to the core where you should see 4 colored wires (red, black, white, and green). The colors don't really matter and they may vary, just as long as you can see a red wire and a black wire.

3. Strip off about a quarter inch of the rubber sleeving on the red and black cables, exposing the actual metal wire.

4. Twist the metal strands of each of the wires a couple of times so that all of the wires from the black cable are together and all of the wires from the red cable are together. This is just to make sure that you don't create a short circuit.

5. Here's where it gets a little tricky. You are going to use this cable to make the phone think the battery is fully charged, when in fact you will just be powering the phone using the power from the USB port. Pull out the battery on your phone and find the 4 exposed metal slots (the battery terminals).

6. Each of the far terminals should be labeled with a plus (+) or a minus (-). What you need to do is put exposed leads on the red wire up to the positive terminal and the leads of the black wire up to the negative terminal.

7. While still holding the leads on their respective terminals, slide the battery back into place in the phone. MAKE SURE THE WIRES ARE NOT TOUCHING WHEN YOU PUT THE BATTERY INTO THE PHONE! BAD THINGS COULD HAPPEN ONCE YOU PLUG THE CORD INTO THE COMPUTER!

Note: As tested by parm289, you can skip step 7 and just use the cable to charge the battery if you'd like. He recommends allowing it to charge for 6-7 minutes before placing it back into the phone. Thanks parm!

I was on with customer service for a while they cannot overnight a new device I asked if a manager could do it, the guy was very apologetic and said they could do nothing.

Here is the sequence of events.
Today 1pm I get new phone, open box, assemble phone, turn phone on, activate phone, setup google shenanigans and facebook, then I DL dolphin browser, set it up to cache to SD card, then I decide to receive update, I click update. Then the phone looks like it doing what it needs to then just boots to the giant M logo. I then take it to the main store near me, they try for about 1.5 hours to make my phone work, then they say we can't do anything.

Now the phone sits like it does. Expensive and fancy paperweight.

Ok tried charging via another device since my mom has the DX, and all it does with the device off and the charger plugged in shows the battery symbol with a question mark.

I am hoping this is true, then I can call customer service back and say cancel.

At least your in some what of a good mood about it.

Well I look at everything this way, I can,

A.) Be in a piss poor mood when something does not go my way or as planned, therefore causing me to have a bad day, and a bad day over something small like a phone or a nail in my tire is just well illogical.

or

B.) Continue on my way and just keep my head up cause it will get fixed.

I should be a motivational speaker, good grief, lol.
