Any way to have weather auto-update, but not Google contacts?

If you go to menu > settings > accounts & sync, there is a checkbox for Auto-sync. This seems like the only way to have the weather on the flipclock widget auto update.

However, I do NOT want Google contacts to be auto-updated... I dont use Google contacts, all my contacts are Phone contacts, and I want to keep it that way.

Is there a solution?

Not sure why on earth you wouldn't want your contacts to be google contacts but if you tap on the google account under accounts and sync you can de-select contacts.

I have my contacts set to sync with Google once per day and weather set to once per hr.and all other updates/syncs done manually as needed,this gets me thru the whole day with moderate ph./texts use.Try it.
