Help any way to improve 3g reception

my incredible crushed this thing, pretty disappointing

does it get better over time magically somehow

is there anything i can do

switching between 3g and 1x in my living room constantly (where the incredible never waivered) is not a good sign

fyi i was running off the initial charge because dude at the store said i should

ever since i plugged the phone, its been golden. pretty sure on a full charge i'll be fine
