Anybody alternate between iphone and android?

I am eligible for a Verizon upgrade and am considering an iphone. I have used android phones for the last year and have been happy for the most part but am always curious about other alternatives. Before android I used blackberry, and was also happy with that platform.

My question is this. Can I switch activation back and forth between my current D2G and the iphone just by dialing *228? Currently I sometimes have to switch back to an older blackberry w/out a camera and this option doesn't work, neither does Verizon

I suppose its possible to alternate phones. But I can't imagine it being very much "fun" to do. Managing one device is enough as it is, two just makes it worse.

I would try it for awhile, and see which device you use more, and then stick with that one if you seem to be using it more.

In theory you should be able to switch using the *228 method as you described. I would think if you have issues going from the bb to the d2g you will likely have the same problem if you get an iphone and try to switch to and fro

I guess the pros of the android is yes there is much customization for everything such as themes, roms all the good stuff. Just one thing that's sort of lacking for me is the fact that android doesn't really have a big market yet for apps. I mean the Apple store just keeps growing compared to Android which seems to be a little bit more slower on newer apps. Anyway still they're both great phones. Just remember that Android IS a lot more open though.

They already have an app called iphone sucks, it can not do flashlight, it's maps are bad, plus they freeze up ALL THE TIME . Listen to what the world is telling u. IPHONE SUCKS. DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think your world is the same as the one everyone else is living in.

You do realize that the built in map feature on the iPhone is Google maps, right? And there are about 1000 apps dedicated to maps on top of that.

You do realize that the iPhone 4 has the same LED style flashlight as other comparible smartphones from Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, Google, etc, right? The iPhone 3G and 3GS do not have the LED flash.

Phone freezing? This can happen to any smartphone. I can guarantee you that it has happened to people with Android phones. Not like this is something especially indicative to the iPhone. Ironically, you posted this just the other day:
Today my phone froze up for two hours. I tried to unlock it but it kept going black!!!!

The iPhone is a great phone, but it doesn't fit everyone's tastes. It's better at some things and worse at others over comparible Android phones. However, your entire post lacks anything resembling fact.

And you do realize that the built in map feature on the Iphone is severly limited compared to Androids, right? You can't even use one of the most basic functions that comes standard on all adriods: turn by turn navigation, caching routes, let alone latitudes (have to run a seperate app) or just try to use both finger to get a 3D view. There are a couple more things that the Iphone can't do natively with google maps but they can be replaced with apps.

Now for the LED most the android phones come with two LEDS that give off more light than just one but now we are splitting hairs but more light to me is better.

There are also many other thing the Iphone can't do that android can:

Widgets, Cloud sync for contacts/updates, drag and drop, true customization, choice in a number of different phones, more free apps, better integration with all things google - gmail, calenders, sky, contacts, goggles, etc.

The basics are that most android phone can do everything the Iphone can do (some even better) but the Iphone can't do everything the android phones can do.

Yes, there are a lot of things Android phones can do, that iPhones can't. Wasn't the point of my post. And as I said, it comes down to what you want. I want widgets, active homescreen and better notifications, which is why I am moving to Android. But to say, the iPhone sucks, just reeks of incoherent babble.

If you use iTunes, have an Apple TV and a Mac, trying to utilize an Android phone for that ecosystem is futile. It's nice to have a phone that can control your TV, music and do video/photo editing. Syncing wirelessly with dropbox between computers and an iPad has advantages too. Additionally, if you want an app for anything, it is easy to find, read reviews on and load, without the worry of viruses or malware.
Buy a new iphone... no need to reload or rebuy apps or learn how to use the new phone because the manufacturer has a different layer added. iTunes syncs directly to your new iPhone or iPad and loads all your apps, movies, music, books, etc... One click easy.
There are advantages to an iPhone, but at this point, I don't need a phone for that sort of thing anymore. My iPad2 will handle all of that. :D
