Help Anybody else no longer getting Facebook notifications on bar?

ever since 4.0.4.

nothing on top. used to get posts, comments, messages, requests.

Have mine set to no refresh, but notifications on just like before.

Hate this. Haven't noticed anything better, but less things work. Thanks. I'm done with Samsung. Had Fascinate too. Volume and signal always sucked.

I want RazrMaxx swap.

Guess it's all perspective - I hate getting FB notifications on my phone. It distracts me when I'm at work and I'm OCD about notifications that aren't cleared. If I get FB notifications I look at whatever it is just to clear the notification, not because I want to read it. I like getting home and then checking on the FB stuff when I have time to reply or have fun etc.

That said did you try uninstalling / rebooting the reinstalling the FB app yet? I doubt any issue with the FB app has to do with Samsung in any way size shape or form. I agree though, if you WANT the notifications and you're not getting them it's annoying. If I wasn't getting the notifications I did want I'd be pretty bent as well, but lets direct your anger at the right entity at least; until the problem is fixed it's likely a tough call what REALLY caused the issue. (And even when you fix it that often wont tell you what caused it.)

The blame here actually needs to be pointed at the FB app itself not Sammy. Trust me i've had my fair share of issues with this phone too but the FB app has always been hit or miss on android.

OP
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the FB app.

fwiw i started using the friendcaster app instead of the FB app. I like it so much better.

lol sorry i posted this after reading the post before mine. so I agree with the above.

I have been having all sorts of issues with Facebook. I am rooted and have been on 4.0.4 for at least a month. Facebook updated last week and there have been issues since then. They are however slowly working themselves out.

I also tried Friendcaster starting today after reading an article. Not bad and I can use dark them for battery life. Hopefully their notifications work. Small sample with no posts, so don't know.

one thing i like about friendcaster is it lets you upload photos to whatever album you want.

I couldn't get it to open to see other comments. And pics quality were not good. Had to uninstall.

I've never gotten facebook updates, even on my Incredible. Still don't on my Nexus. I certainly don't think Samsung is to blame, especially since it's just their hardware.

Don't know if this will work for everyone, but it seems to have sorted out my Evo 3D no longer receiving posts after the ICS update from Sprint. Little back history: I am a former BlackBerry user, and had the app an notifications setup on my BB. When I switched to Android, everything worked fine, until HTC and Sprint finally got the ICS update rolled out to my phone a couple days ago. Then, suddenly, no more notifications. I tried clearing the data and uninstalling/reinstalling the app, but still no updates. Then I checked in the All Apps list (not just the downloads) and did the steps below. My notifications have been working just fine since.

Go to:
Settings -> Apps -> All
Scroll down to the Facebook listings (mine had 4 total).
Tap each listing (except the one that only says Facebook and has the regular Facebook logo) and disable them. I disabled 2 Facebook Chats and the HTC Facebook.

After doing this, my notifications have been coming through normally. So, may be a conflict between these apps.

***Update***
As a note, I re-enabled the apps after a few hours, just to see what would happen. Notifications are still coming through normally (and it's been a few days since I turned them back on). So, if you use these apps (such as the HTC Facebook integration for being able to actually specify which folder you want photos you share to upload), it seems ok to turn them back on.
