Anybody else noticing screen wear?

Alright, so this is the first time I've seen this issue on a touchscreen phone before so forgive me if this is known, but here goes. Right about thumb height on my screen, I can notice some definite screen wearing issue. Under normal usage, it feels a lot more grippy than the rest of the screen, and fingerprints are harder to wipe off in that particular spot. I took a picture of it with my old Droid X so it's not fantastic, but I think you guys should be able to see it.

Right in the middle of the circle, you can see the general area where it's wearing. I've been using some automotive wax on the screen so it looks perfectly normal when I wipe it off and helps keep the screen nice and slippy. But when I wax it, it's clearly visible. Has anybody else got this problem or is it just my unfortunate luck?

I've had my phone for about 7 weeks now and I don't see any wear on my screen. How long have you had your phone? Is the wear pattern from normal usage or do you use one particular app or play a particular game that would wear the screen in that spot?

I've been cleaning my screen with micro fiber cloth and I love your wax idea. (I also wax toilet seats when I buy them new before installation. Old school bachelor know-how.)

I've had it for almost 3 months now, since the day the phone came out. It's from normal usage, I don't have any games installed on it, which is why it surprised me. I do use it pretty heavily, but it's no more than I used my Droid X, which never showed wear like this.

It used to be a little frustrating since I use Swype, and the rise in grip would throw off my typing. The wax really helps smoothen it out though. It's not such a big issue anymore, but it's a little annoying. I've applied a few coats to help protect the screen, and it hasn't caused any issues so far, so I recommend using it if you are into the idea.

I wonder if there is a lower spec Gorilla Glass on these newer phones? My Droid 2 Global's screen looks like the day I first got it. I'll definitely keep an eye on my phone's screen and any wear it might show.

Shoot me a PM if you ever do notice wear. I think I'll give it a few more months or so and if I don't see any mentions of this, I'll try returning it for a refurbished model.

That looks like its right where the slide to unlock is. It shouldn't wear, but it is a place that gets constant use. I just got mine, but I'll definitely keep an eye on my phone.

I just went to ...

Settings | Security & Screen Lock | Screen Lock

... and selected None.

(One of the nicest things about ICS was allowing you to dump the screen lock without using a third-party app.)

I actually didn't realize that, BUT, I don't use the slide unlock haha. I use the pattern, and my pattern is on the upper left, so it shouldn't affect that. It's just from normal homescreen swiping, and I guess Swype has something to do with putting it under more usage. But like I said, I've done no more on this phone than I did on my Droid X which I had for over two years and that never showed this wearing.
