Help Anybody ever replace a digitizer on a HTC Desire 601?

Dropped my phone face-down on the sidewalk, so I'm about to embark on a new and exciting Mr-Fix-It experience! ;)

Have any of you already done this? Any tips? There are YouTube videos on the subject, but it can't hurt to ask for other hints.

FWIW, the digitizers are commonly available from E-bay for $25-$30. I paid a few dollars extra with a US-seller so that it arrives a little sooner than if I had purchased from one of the many Chinese sellers.

And I picked up a tool kit from NewEgg that includes plastic pry-tools and micro-sized screwdrivers for about $20.

I haven't, but have a 601 with a cracked screen that I was considering doing this with as well. Let us know how it turns out.

Well, that was a fail!

Started taking the phone apart and managed to rip the LCD ribbon cable. And I'm not even half-way through disassembly! :ahhhhh:

The lesson for the day is probably that you don't want to learn how to disassemble and reassemble a cell phone that you need working, for yourself, today. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, which is why I dove into this project in the first place, but this seems to me to be a fairly easy mistake for a newbie to make. So don't make it yourself.

I'm going to get another phone that works. Maybe a used 601 off of e-bay. Maybe a new 816 on sale somewhere.

I may revisit the 601 repair, but not today. Damn!
