Anybody make the jump from the Razr Maxx to the GNex?

Has anybody here made that switch? I've had my Maxx for going on a week, and am extremely disappointed at it's battery life. If I'm not going to get AMAZING battery life out of my Maxx, then the Maxx loses it's biggest advantage and the Nexus becomes much more tempting than it already is.

I'm thinking the GNex with 2 batteries (1 being the extended battery) might be greater than the Max. I realize that this is the Nexus forum, so most of you probably feel that way no matter what, but I'm just saying. :D

This is like my 5th Android phone, and I've never had a Nexus device. So that is also very tempting to me. The Maxx is great all around, hell even the much maligned screen is pretty sweet to me, I have no complaints other than the battery.

What say you that have already made that jump, or others that were in my situation too? Do you regret switching from the Maxx to GNex or just flat out choosing the Gnex?

What kinda battery life are you getting on your maxx? I mean I haven't had one, but friend of mine does and he gets about 1.5-2 days out of his battery and it still has like 20% charge when he says he plugs it in. I agree with what your saying, battery is the only edge for the maxx, but with a good rom/kernel combo(if you root) on the gnex you can get really good battery life. Currently I'm at %51 battery 13 hours unplugged and 1.5 hour screen time. Mostly wifi, but still pretty good battery IMO. I can always get at least 24 hours if I'm on wifi and have around 2-3 hours of screen time(I'm running AOKP rom and Franco kernel with extended battery)

If your battery is that bad, you may have a bad battery. Consider swapping it out for a new one if your not pleased? If you still aren't pleased, then try out the gnex. Battery life isn't as good but the rest is just preference on what you prefer.

I came from the RAZR (not Maxx) to the Gnex. Gnex is easily the better device IMO but I am largely into customizing my Gnex. I love the ROMs and Kernels and the insane amount of developer support. If you don't want to root and ROM then that evens up the race a little bit.

Right now with the Gnex I have an OEM Samsung desktop charger and a spare battery I picked up for $35 on Amazon. I swap my battery for the charged one everyday at about 5pm. I also have an extended battery but I don't use it.

My biggest complaint about the RAZR was the camera quality and non swap-able battery, other than that it was a pretty sweet device and I actually really liked the Blur (one of the main reasons I chose it first)

With the Razr Maxx I'm only getting about 18-20 hours on a full charge, and 8 or 9 of those are while I sleep. I was getting 20 hours on a regular basis with my old Galaxy S2 with a stock battery and rom. I consider myself a medium user I guess.

As far as rooting if I were to get a GNex, I probably would root it if it meant better battery life. I've only rooted one of my phones in the past (Galaxy S1), and that was for a performance upgrade since that thing had MAJOR lag, battery performance was improved too.

All in all, If I could consistently get 10-15 hours on a GNex I think it might be a good move for me.

well I had the og Droid and the bionic and never rooted either. Then got this and decided to try it. It was very easy! Before root I got 10-12 hours. After 25-35 hours. Significant if you ask me! I'm a medium user. Couple hours of screen time(texting browsing phandroid YouTube) and get that battery life

rooting wouldnt change anything, ROMing would however, not so sure though as i do not have a maxx, i do know that moto likes to add blur features to the phones that will either hurt and make the battery life better. its all user preference, and just remember not all of these devices will have the best. battery, sometimes you get a lemon.

Sorry I meant to put in I'm using AOKP rom and Franco kernel lol my mistake!

if the maxx had an unencrypted bootloader, and no obvious buttons (i like that about the gnex) then i would go to it as well, but my battery lasts all day anyway so i dont complain :) and im on the stock battery

my phone is on airplane mode for 8 hrs

if that is what you are looking for, get the Gnex.
the extra battery isn't a bad idea either, i have been contemplating picking one up myself, but i have never been in a situation where i could actually see myself needing one (constantly have a charger near by, and when i dont, i am rarely away from one for more than 10 hours.)
this weekend was a pretty good test of my nexus battery. i had 3 bars of 4g which would then drop to almost no signal with wifi (stupid disney resorts) and i could get 13 hours before i needed a plug. this was taking lots of pics, getting gmail all the time,20 or so texts, 10 minutes worth of calls, forum checking, ESPN checking ect and brightness was almost always at 100% because i was in the sun almost the entire time.
that is on AOKP (4.0.3 with frankos kernal)
i have even heard 4.04 is much better on battery life.

i am... the speakerphone on the maxx is garbage. i haven't had a motorola phone in years...motorola speakers are no where near what they used to be apparently.the maxx is all about battery, but since i would be able to remove and replace batteries on the gnex i am def thinking about using my 14 day to exchange to the gnex. the only thing i am concerned about with going to the gnex is data connectivity and actually getting phone calls when they are trying to get me. is that still a problem with the gnex?
