anybody obsessed with Star Wars Galaxy's Edge?

ocnbrze

DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!
ok this is going to sound ridiculous, but i live in LA and i have not yet been to Disney's Galaxy's Edge yet. i have seen a live stream of the grand opening for Galaxy's Edge and i'm now obsessed with it. i really want to go, but all my friends here in LA are not Disney fans nor are they Star Wars fans. they think Disney is overpriced and overated.

do you think it would be weird if i go alone? i never been to an amusement park alone.

anybody else obsessed with the new Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland?

i agree that the last three Phantom Menance , Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of The Sith were not as good as A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. but they were very entertaining. i do like the new movies that have come out since.

but man growing up, i was fanatical about Episodes IV-VI. i mean at the Galaxy's Edge, you can fly the Millennium Falcon.

let me say that again:
YOU CAN FLY THE MILLENNIUM FALCOIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how cool is that???????????????

Probably my surroundings now. In China there's just not much enthusiasm for Star Wars, and is still relatively unknown. My students know all about DC and Marvel superheroes, and all things Harry Potter and Peppa Pig. But I'm sure quite a few wouldn't recognise things like Millennium Falcon, C3PO, or R2D2, or even Darth Vader.

The main premise of Star Wars, about the battle against an evil authoritarian Empire, may hit a few discordant notes with the Beijing govt, and so isn't encouraged, despite what George Lucas and Disney may desire.

Do you still need reservations for Galaxy's Edge? I heard they'd end in June, but I'm not sure when.

You're aware of the crazy huge crowds, right? :o

I've never gone to Disneyland alone, but have thought about it. I used to have an annual pass, and sometimes had days where no one could go but I wanted to...and always ended up not doing it. But I don't think there's anything weird about it.

If you're excited by all the coverage we've had (especially on KABC channel 7, who's owned by Disney), go for it! Just be prepared for ungodly crowds, lines and wait times.

you do not need reservations anymore. i think at the beginning of July you can just go.

i don't know i guess i feel weird just going by myself. i might just have to suck it up i guess and go sometime this summer.

Look at it like this: no one will know you're there alone unless you tell them. :)

It's very common to see people who appear to be alone there. Some of them really are, while others have split from their group to go on a ride no one else wants to go on (because they're scared, like Space Mountain--I ALWAYS see single riders there!). I neither know nor care if they're there alone. They're having fun, and that's what matters.

WHEN you go, please give us a thorough run-down! :D

alright then i thinkl i will plan on going sometime in july.....most likely the third week. i want to try a weekday vs on the week end. i will definitely will post back with pic's and a full detail on my thoughts on it. now i have to start saving up as it does look a bit expensive.....not sure if i'm going to be buying an R2 unit or build my own lightsaber as those kind of stuff adds up in price. but you never know, i might get so caught up in the place that i will be compelled to spend money.

thanx y'alls for your response. i'm super excited to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bet! I can't wait to hear about it.

You know the third week of July will be sizzling in Anaheim, so plan ahead. Wear cool, breathable clothes, use lots of waterproof sunscreen, drink gallons of water, wear a hat if you like, and stay in the shade as much as possible.

Sitting in the front two or three rows on Splash Mountain is one of my favorite ways of cooling off!

Be on the lookout for "SoCal residents only" special rates--I've seen day passports as low as $60, which is a far cry from its normal $100+ price. If I see any advertised, I'll let you know.
