Root Anybody still care?

I still do. I may have upgraded to the LG Motion, but I still use my Admire more than I use my Motion some days

I too have upgrated to the motion but I'd LOVE to see some real development not just my crapy rom ports.

Yeah I went and got the Spirit back when I bricked my last Admire, and funnily enough I bricked my Spirit last night.

Only a real dev could truly hard brick the Spirit lol those unbricking methods for LG phones are pretty strong revivers

Shabby sent me another Admire, before I spend alot of time dev'ing for the phone again, does anybody care?
I just upgraded to the Huawei Premia 4G today. I am selling my rooted, oc'ed, rom'ed admire on c list and ebay for 50 bucks with case and charger. Will post listing numbers if anyone is interested....

Alright well I'm currently trying to port the Admire over to a 3.0.8 kernel so we can run CM9/10. Everything works except the LCD and Touchscreen right now. Also got the latest CWM built. CM10.1 (Jellybean) builds, but without the 3.0.8 kernel, it's not booting.

had i seen this earlier i would have bought it the money i had on my paypal, had $50 exactly and then donated the phone to AquerMang. unfortunately i already spent it and i put put money into paypal once in a blue moon :/

so im not a Dev but from my readings and common knowledge on the Admire, wouldnt we need a kernel that supports swap partition to be able to run a working CM9/CM10. now i know similar phones such as the prevail have CM9 but their phone specs are bit better than ours. and maybe the LCD and Touchscreen could be fixed with a source patch from another similar phone if nothing in the Admire's source code works. I personally believe CM9 could run on this phone but its a long shot and could be filled with bugs. Im still a firm believer that finishing CM7 would be better but only time will tell.

First off, I don't need a dev phone, Shabbypenguin sent me one. As far as swap goes, using swap would make the operating system faster, but it wouldn't effect whether or not it will actually run.

The reason the LCD and Touchscreen isn't working yet is because I'm using a kernel for other similiar Samsung phones, and hacking in the Admire specific stuff, so it's not an easy process.

Yes, CM7 would be "easier", but I'm so burnt out on CM7 (lol I am req0), I don't think I'm going to go back to playing with it for awhile. CM7 would be easier because it wouldn't require a newer kernel, but CM7 also never really played nice with our camera driver either.

Anyways, I'm going to be working on CM10.1 primarily because it's the most current and has all the latest patches and bugfixes.

alright well that answers a lot of question, but i knew you were Req0 since the day the new CWM was posted up by PG ;) its great having you back

yeah the new cwmr 6.0.3.0 is the shizznizzle...i for one would love more dev on the phone...im learning so i can as well in between work n life and having friends and their friends pay me to mod their phones...the admire isnt my primary phone for calls n texts n whatnot, but is my choice for everything else i need to do on a phone...any way i can help lemme know

my wife and I still rock our Admires OC'd, hers on Monster at 900mhz, mine at 900mhz on CM7 beta2, and 1.2g on OA more than any other roms. I would love to see CM7 finished, or any finished CM rom, and whatever else this thing can do...willing to test...

Even Though I Have A LG Marquee, A Samsung Galaxy S 4G, A Samsung Admire And Maybe Getting A Samsung Galaxy S3 Or S4 This Summer, I Would Care If You Continue The Devving On This Phone. My Brother Would Love A New ROM For This Phone And I Always Run Back To This Phone Because This Phone Can Last For Days ;) Aside From My Other Phones Lol

Alright well I'm getting high and finishing AC3 today.

Tomorrow I'll get back to the 3.0.8 kernel stuff, and maybe, MAYBE, play with CM7 again.

Maybe I can squeeze out CWM 6.0.3.2 today.

Hey Aqua, Is It Hard To Just Fix The LCD And Touchscreen? Our Is It Something You Have To Do With The Kernel?

It has to do with the drivers in the kernel itself. Basically ripping out the driver code in the old kernel, and plugging it into the new kernel, fixing all the bugs that that creates along the way.

Well lookie here...

Nice, is everything working in that version

Not quite. Camera is working better (not crashing), but it's not showing the image yet. I'm working on building a camera wrapper from source, as well and fixing wifi and bluetooth.

This was just a preliminary barebones build to make sure Cyanogenmod itself is stable.

Now we move on to hacking at the device specific stuff to make it 100%.
