Anyone biting?

I've had my Pixel for a week or so. Pretty much happy with it, snappy performance, but I'm not happy with the battery. I was very used to my Samsung, and I always carried extra batteries around with me. One battery dies, just pop a fresh one in. You can't do that with the Pixel, and I've had this battery die on me multiple times. I've taken to carrying around an external charger, which I purchased from Ravpower. That unit has 10400mAh capacity, and two usb outputs for charging things, one is 1A output, the other is 2A. So I called Google to ask if it's okay to use that charger with the Pixel. They said no, only use the Google charger ($35). Anyone reading this think that they gave me that advice because they wanted to sell me stuff? In fact it's okay to use an external battery charger like that but they don't want to say that? Or is it in fact risky to use a charger other than theirs? They suggested that I was going to damage my phone by using other products.

Using sub standard tech can break a phone if it's from a reputable company I would use the accessory no matter what Google said just my opinion

the thing is if the accessory does break the phone the blame only lies on you the consumer so no warranty replacement of device

Coming from the 6P, I really wanted the XL for the larger screen and battery but couldnt justify the price tag.

I've ordered a black Pixel from google that'll be here in a few weeks. If the battery isnt at least on par with the 6P it'll be returned.

Well don't get me wrong, the battery isn't terrible, its decent. You may be happy with it. I'm just spoiled with my last phone being able to swap out batteries when one runs down. Actually, the fast charging is really good. I just have to get used to a routine where I plug it in once in a while, when I'm driving, or eating dinner. I was told by Google that there is not a memory effect with this battery, meaning that you don't have to drain it before charging, or charge all the way before using. Just charge it here or there when you get a chance. I think that you'll find the battery to be perfectly adequate. I'm really enjoying the phone.

I prefer fast charging rather than swapping batteries for just that reason. A few minutes on a charger here and there > carrying around extras and having to restart the phone to swap a battery

The phone is brilliant. Feels a lot slicker than the S7E.

I went for 32gb by choice, I have 4g or WiFi access 90% of the time. Expandable storage is unnecessary, the world has moved on now.

After accidentally dropping (and subsequently running over with my wheelchair) and shattering the screen of the absolutely brilliant Xperia Z3 Compact, I broke down and ordered the 32GB Pixel as an early birthday and Christmas present to myself. I loved my Z3C as it was a smaller phone that didn't seem to compromise on performance in any discernible fashion which, in turn, harkens back to one of my first Android devices, the HTC Incredible. My Pixel arrives tomorrow and clearly has some very big metaphorical pants to fill, personally. Here's hoping HTC managed to finally reclaim some of their former glory with Google's guidance.

I've had it for about a day but haven't used it too much. My first impressions are that it's very snappy and "clean". It's not just the lack of bloatware but also just the UI that makes everything feel extremely streamlined. It doesn't take many taps to get things done; in fact, even-less-so if I use assistant. My biggest disappointment is independent of the phone: I wish us early adopters got the Daydream VR headset just as the pre-orders did. It's not like the price has fallen at all since pre-order. Oh well.
