I guess you can protect it by going to setting developer option and unchecked USB debugging that it cuts connection between your phone and pc, but remember to turn it on when you want to get connected to pc.

Hi @cloudy day , welcome to Android Forums!

Are you saying that they have access to your files? or they are using your phone to tether to a laptop and depleting your mobile data allotment?

If the former, go to menu>settings>storage and then press menu>USB Computer Connection and make sure MTP and PTP are both unchecked. This will prevent your phone from mounting as a storage device when plugged in. Of course if you want to transfer files yourself you'll need to re-enable this. :)

If the latter, I'm not sure what's going on here as tethering is supposed to stay off once disconnected and only re-enabled from the menu which they'd need your password to get to. Try this yourself ... with your phone locked, plug it into a laptop and see what happens. If you are prompted for a password and the laptop does not connect until you enter it, then I'd guess one of your siblings has figured out your password. Change it. If you are prompted to connect without a password, then there seems to be something bypassing the phone's security.

yes and no. it depends on what you mean by access.
If you mean can a PC access the files and copy them off? then "yes"

if you mean, operate the phone with Side Sync or Kies 3.0 to image it, "no"

There is some security involved though, the PC cannot copy any of the data files unless the phone is rooted.

To check my answer on this, I just now plugged in the USB cable, waited for the screen to light up, and then locked the screen.

The PC file manager does have access to all of the "openly available files". Ringtones, pictures, mp3, etc... and more, but no data.

do as I do, install a Neckstrap onto the case for your phone, and keep that around your neck if you are not home. My phone is always in my shirt pocket and the strap around my neck when I leave home.
