I was really expecting better specs..

  • 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)

I'm wondering where you got those specs, personally. There's some definite errors there. Here's the specs from the press release...

Seems that there's a bunch of different specs floating around...


No idea where I found my specs....was doing some late night searching, lol

Yes I'm disappointed. The finger print scanner is what differentiated the atrix from other phones. Losing that just makes it another motorola phone.
 
The HSPA+ to 21 isn't being mentioned but to me that's a good upgrade in my eyes. It definitely has better hardware specs. Is it a revolutionary upgrade? No. But I don't think its too far behind the S II.
 
Just get a phone that's gonna make you happy. Everyone is all talk about the SG2 but that phone is about to lose its glory when nexus prime comes. Nexus prime will lose its glory shortly after that. We can't keep up with the latest and greatest because this mobile technology is to fast. Are big thing is to hope the manufacturing company along with at&t keep giving us updates. IN A TIMELY MANNER!!!
 
If you compare it to the SGSII on a site like Phone Arena, the two things that are "lesser" are the built in memory and the processor. Haven't seen anything conclusive about the battery yet. And supposedly, the new screen is a big upgrade over the original.

When I had my Original Atrix, I could rarely get the fingerprint scanner to work properly, so it ended up just being a waste for me.

Hopefully more reviews and such will start to leak out now since we're already so close to launch date.
 
I use the FP scanner often, keeps my neices and nephews from messing with it. I do not care about the camera, all but one cell phone i have ever owned has had a camera and I rarely every used them. I have had the atrix 1 since it came out, and i have not used the camera at all. as for the screen 4.3 is to big. so switching for me would be a complete waste of money.
 
Got the phone and I'm very happy with it. It's everything I loved about my Atrix but improved. Great camera and video. The camera button is soooo convenient. The UI is unbelievable! So smooth compared to the previous MotoBlur. It looks like MotoBlur has actually been completely removed so it's just a purer Gingerbread experience. Either way, it's a winning experience.

Only had it for a day but I can definitely say it's a worthwhile improvement. Oh and the design and feel is night and day. Hold the phone and you can actually feel the difference. Looks sleek and polished. Nice job Moto.
 
Okay other than looking good, how is the performance? Call quality? Can people hear you? Does it drop calls, random restarts? These are just a few of the problems I'm having with my ATRIX 4G.

Keep in mind I've used mine for 3 days now.

Call quality is great. I can hear clearly and haven't had a situation in which the other person can't hear me. I also love how know if your on a call and you take the phone away from your ear and put it down, as if to use the dial pad on an IVR, the dial pad auto populates.

No dropped calls. No restarts. No heating issues.

The UI is very smooth when your on the home screens but I haven't noticed a slight lag when I'm on an app and I exit to home. Also, today the home screen wouldn't respond at all and I had to hard reset.

My first post on this site.

I'm coming from a Blackberry and looking for an Android phone that has decent enterprise security features. The Atrix 2 seems to fit the bill. (I already have a personal iPhone 4). i played around with one at an AT&T store and loved it, more than the Samsung SG2 right next to it (the SG2's screen seemed over-saturated to me).

My question is this: Anyone know if ICS is coming to the Atrix 2? Will it work well? Or should I wait for the next Motorola phone on AT&T, or maybe the HTC Holiday/Raider?

Will ICS come to the A2? Probably. When? Your guess is as good as mine.

I'd not presume that any of the upcoming phones (short of the obvious Nexus, which won't even initially be an AT&T phone) will come with ICS - someone else surmised we probably won't see that on a phone until the holidays - I think that's probably a reasonable estimate. As for when they'll upgrade "older" phones? Depends on the carrier, and AT&T seems to take their sweet time.

That all being said, from what I've read, it seems like this phone is being targeted towards the enterprise market with the encryption and EAS. I'm not sure any other phones - either currently on AT&T or upcoming - have anything comparable for security features.
