anyone else having 3g issues?

instead of sending my phone away and paying 25 dollars for a loaner, im going to ask here.

If I leave my 3g on, then let the phone sit idle for some time (say an hour) and then go to use it again, 3g wont work. In settings it will say it is on, but it wont connect. I can sometimes turn it off then on again and it works. Already something wrong there. But most of the time that doesnt even work and i have to power down my phone and start it back up. Something that eats like 1-2% of battery.

Is there a fix for this? Its a Telus phone.

You could try going to settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks and enable always on mobile data.

Before the 2.3 update my device used to lose its data connectiom, in settings it would say that it is turned on (Connected), cycling the mobile data on and off would resolve it. I have not noticed it since the update.

I sometimes loose my data connection (even on 2.3.3), both 3G and GPRS. To get it back I place the phone on flight mode for a second and turn off flight mode. I am not sure if it an Android issue or a carrier signal issue.

Could be your network. have you got other phones you can test with. I know with mine I thought it was to do with my phone, but it turned out my phone was connecting to a dummy mask that was down.

Unfortunately not... Well, I could borrow my wifes phone I guess or maybe better enable her 3G for a day and see if she looses connection too. Since my problem is very intermittent, might be hard to figure it out.

lol and here I thought this might just be me!

To try and fix it I have even done a wipe and reinstall with no change. It's irritating at best.

I've noticed this too recently.

I have all the settings ticked correctly so it's automatically connected once I am away from my wifi settings (as I get free unlimited data) and I'm finding I have to turn on and off to get it active again.

Very irrititating

What geo-location / network??

I'm with Orange in North West England, UK and I find 3G/HSDPA coverage and service stability completely diabolical and unusable. I've tested swapping out my Orange sim for my sisters' Three sim and found that 3G / HSDPA was very good on 3 so I'm happy my Desire HD is working fine.

For me it's Orange that's complete cack, however their shitty service always prevents me exceeding my monthly data cap ;-)

Hey

I'm with Vodafone Ireland and range around Wicklow and Wexford (rural and town locations). I also just noticed that my network settings were set to WCDMA only rather than WCDMA/GSM so have corrected that and hopefully that will help...

What software version are you all using? Plonk the software info data on here.
Good idea, here's mine. Although if this is software related, I'm only seeing it with Orange.

this happened to me too; i never d/l an update or anything (not to my knowledge) and i called my carrier's tech support. they told me that they were doing an upgrade to the network and texted me back a few hours later noting that the upgrade was complete. i haven't had any issue since.

btw, i'm with telus too and this upgrade was done jul 13. no problems since with 3G.

My first suggestion would be to upgrade your ROM to the latest build after a factory reset and full wipe. Follow this by only restoring user apps and data and no system data from Titanium.

Let us know what happens.
