Help Anyone else having short battery life on your Razr? - POST HERE

I have had the phone 36 hours and have NOT had any battery issues.

After a full charge, a full drain (about 10%) and a full charge, I had what I consider normal battery life all day yesterday. I first took the phone off of the charger at about 6:00am. During the rest of the day I had LTE on 100%, WiFi about 20%, GPS about an hour, watched TV from my SlingBox for about an hour, surfed numerous websites all day, and continuously synced 2 exchange email accounts, a hotmail account, and 2 Gmail accounts. At about 8:00pm last night my battery was at 20% so I plugged the phone into my charger for the rest of the evening. For me and my experience with my DroidX and other smartphones, this seems perfectly normal.


BTW, the LTE performance is excellent!! Speedtest shows 12-16Mbps downloads and about 8Mbps uploads. The overall phone performance is also excellent, much quicker and smoother than my DroidX.


I have not noticed the phone getting hot as others have, although I haven't handled it much while charging.


I also haven't seen any pixelation or other issues with the display. I think it looks great, especially compared to my DX.

Overall, I'm VERY pleased with this phone.


I'm traveling for the rest of the weekend, so we'll see how LTE and everything works in different cities.
 
I'd say the battery is very acceptable, but that's coming from someone with the dreaded Thunderbolt. My thunderbolt improved after rooting and loading AOSP ROMS on it, but I could nearly kill it in four hours with moderate use. I've surfed, played with Smart Actions and other apps, texted and made a few calls today and I probably have 75% left after 6 hours, so I'm happy...
 
Yeah I'm pleased with battery life. Nothing horrible or anything fantastic. For a first Gen LTE handset I'm not expecting phenomenal battery life. No complaints here.

One complaint. Charging takes forever using the charger that came with it (plugged into outlet ). Anyone else?

I haven't even upwrapped that one yet. Just used the same old same old...I go through them so fast, it's the latest one I used on the T-bolt. Went pretty quickly though. Man I'm definitely impressed with everything about this phone!

Me 2...It's solid and just works. I have no complaints with the handset at all. Like I said Quad Core Drops tomorrow I'd still keep it.

Zero issues w/ the exception of Screeble not playing nice with it. Uninstalled it.

I've noticed this at least with my Bionic (I know, thread jacking :p). My OG charged super fast, both plugged into the wall. Not sure if it's a larger battery issue or what?
 
I'm starting to think there are different batteries or something used. There is my obvious battery problems, It even only managed 12 hours today, with absolutely all syncing turned off, data turned off, wifi off and completely unused while at work. I left on my desk while I was working, and came back to a dead battery. And there are people that are delighted with their battery life, I can't work it out.

Now I need to see if Handtec are going to take it back as faulty, surely that must be?

Rush your right man! They're all gonna suck if you ask me...And of course Fan Boys from different phones will scream one is better then the other!

I'm getting 4 hours maybe 5 if I'm lucky. Third charge today and have only texted, checked Facebook a few times, surfed the web and that's it. I am starting to think I got a lemon with all my issues. Guess I am making a trip to Verizon tomorrow.
 
With only a handful of conservative profiles defined in Smart Actions, my phone has been off the charger for 10+ hours today and is currently at 70%. This phone can do some amazing things with a little extra effort... :D

Very nice! Smart Actions is truly remarkable. Who needs a spare battery or extended when you have Smart Actions. I'm not joking neither :)

I haven't even explored Smart Actions to it's fullest yet. The possibilities

So maybe all the poor battery life reports on Razr didn't use battery saver in Smart Actions? Then it seems like Razr doesn't have real edge on battery vs other two (GNex, Rezound).

In all likelihood the real world differences between a 1600 mAh, 1700mAh, and 1800mAh battery is not going to be significant. Realistically we may see an hour or two difference in run-time between the phones... but depending on the phone it could realistically be more or less. Unfortunately LTE will most likely drain these batteries more quickly... unless someone makes a concerted effort to keep LTE usage under control.

In my opinion, Smart Actions takes the Razr to the next level. While Locale and other apps may perform similar functions, they're not integrated into the OS and may or may not work as effectively with the device.

What I think will be interesting will be to see what add-on's the Rezound brings to the table. Since the GNex is an Android experience phone it's unlikely that Google will add anything that isn't in the standard ICS distribution. Unless, of course, Verizon pushes Google to add app's to the phone (but I'm thinking that this is not likely).

In the bigger picture, however, I still wonder if it even matters? All three are flagship phones for Verizon and each brings something different to the table. All this posturing about which is best is really silly... :rolleyes:

I completely agree. I purchased my phone on Saturday prior to a trip to DC. The first day, the battery seemed to drain really fast (maybe not a great charge). Yesterday, I set up a "battery saver" smart action. When I hit the power button, all data are turned off, sync off, wi-fi off, blue tooth off. I have had my phone off the charger for 2 1/2 hours. I still have 98 percent of my battery remaining. Mind you, I have not used the phone much. With the size of the screen, if it is on, your battery life will be poor regardless of settings. However, if you're concerned about getting through the day with your phone, it can certainly be done. I'm anxious to get back home so I can set up smart actions to be a little "smarter". ;)

Galaxy nexus and Resound are not even out yet so I don't know what kind of advantage the RAZR has if at all. I'm very happy with 7.5 hours of moderate to heavy use over 4G all day.
 
I'm glad I saw this post - I'm beginning to think I have a lemon as well. I can only get 4 hours TOPS out of my battery only using 3G, receiving email and sending a few texts. This is not acceptable and I"m ready to return the phone. I had a DroidX and was VERY happy with that battery life. I guess I need to make a trip to Verizon as well...

I get your points. It's just that Razr battery life doesn't seem to be as great as Jha claim and 12.5hr talk time seem to suggest. It's just on par with Bionic which is not bad. But I was expecting a bit better than that. I'm just looking at hardware part of it without software help like smart action. I guess apps like that will come up and available for Gnex, Rezound too.

Me too. Have yet to make it through a 1/2 day on 3G. Frustrating.

On 3g I can make it almost 24 hours with 3 email accounts and twitter and Facebook syncing. I would take yours back and get a new razr. My razr battery is way better than my bionic!

But what about comparing the Razr to a Bionic with the heavy duty battery. To me, that's the battery that many will use since it so greatly extends battery life. Yes, the phone will be much thicker and heavier than the Razr, but still, if we're comparing the two in terms of battery life, I think this is a valid point.
 
What exactly do you Razr guys do with 'smart actions'. In looking at the manual I'm not really sure how this works since everything says 'consult the help section' and I don't own the phone.

The only thing I could find was management when the battery gets to 20%. To me that's too late to have any significant impact on battery life. So I'm sure I'm missing something.

That's the thing. A poll in the Bionic forum shows that more than 1/2 there have upgraded to using the extended battery. Just commenting on your point.
