Help Anyone else having short battery life on your Razr? - POST HERE

I got my razr @ 11:11 I went home plugged it in and started getting ready for my graveyardshift I got to work and put the phone to sleep so I had enough battery to play poker At lunch. while the phone was sleeping it dropped to 20 % (in 2.5 hours) so I looked at the battery manager and it said media was draining my battery, so I went to my car atr break to get my charger and charged it till lunch and played poker. 3 hours later it was dead again and again it said media, but there is no way to stop it. So I looked it up and someone said something about bad files on the memory card so the next day I pulled my card and put in the stock card and hazah media didn't show up battery was doing good considering I watched Netflix. But I have to have my media so I went through my files and only put my phone taken videos and pics and my music on the stock card and again tonight media is draining my battery, this is getting frustrating I wish I knew which file type is causing this I think motorola messed something up:mad:

Try reformatting the SD card and then don't put anything on it. Test it for a few hours and see what's up. If its good to go put pics on it and test again. If that ends up good put your music back on and test again. Do this until you can trouble shoot what's causing your phone to continually scan your SD card.

Could not be happier with battery life here, especially considering I'm coming from a past that includes the Thunderbolt (actually 5 of them but that's another story). I'm taking the phone off the charger in the morning at 100% and use the device steadily through the day. This includes making quite a few calls, being on email all day, so I guess my usage is actually moderate to heavy thru the day. By the time I put the device back on the charger at bedtime I'm at 30% to 20% battery juice left with 14 hours off the charger. This is in an area with solid 4G as well. These numbers are at least 3 times better than my Thunderbolt battery usage so I'm getting spoiled quickly!
As far as charging, this is the fastest charging device I've ever had! I plug this thing in and in an hour I'm at 100% or just under, this makes life easier as well!
So far the Razr is GREAT!

New Phone - New Battery life! I did determine on the old Razr that I used Mybackup Pro to restore apps and it seems that something was hanging up. I don't know exactly what it was, but now I've reinstalled only selected apps and have set my backup to weekly (instead of daily - this may also have had something to do with it). I saw under media RerWare was running, but didn't know what it was - Turns out this is mybackup pro. If you have this installed, you may want to give it a look.

So you still used MyBackup Pro to restore your apps but you went in manually and selected what you wanted to have restored?

Got my phone yesterday, fully charged it last night. Been off charger since 7am with moderate usage and am down to 50% as of right now. Seems pretty good to me..

This past weekend:

At home so on Wi-Fi the entire time. Easily got over 12 hours out of one charge.

Today:

At work.

Work Profile in Smart Actions:

Trigger = Time Frame

Actions = Wi-Fi (Off), BT (Off), Cellular Data (Enable), Background Sync (On)

9 Hours and 25 minutes on battery and I'm at 30%. 3G/4G the entire time (BTW, 3G to 4G switching is flawless compared to my Thunderbolt).

Was bored at work. Im a heavy user. I know this phone isnt gonna have great battery life, its a 4g. You guys check your task manager. This is also why i said that i could have stood for this phone to be a little thicker to place a 2200+mah battery. I really don't expect much more. The old thunderbolt would've been dead.
On 4g at work. 3 h 54 m
40% battery left
Display 1h2m
android operating system 22m
browser 7.5 min
voice call 2m9s
cellstby 3h55m
phone idle 2h55m
YouTube 2min20sec
Media server 1m46s
Market 46s
video surf 40s

What app are you using to see the actual time usage? WHen I look at my task manager all I can see if cpu%, not usage time. Thanks!!

that was the next logical step but I didn't feel like messing with it. But tonight it seems to have worked its self out I'll have to give it a few more days to make sure

TIP FOR BATTERY LIFE: if your not having that media problem try using the sleep mode if you don't absolutely have to have your phone active, it is really quite convenient especially if your in a known bad service area

I actually had VERY similar and abysmal battery life from Saturday (11/12) until last night, when I exchanged my RAZR for a new one. Thought I had gotten a lemon.

I would die down to 30% within 3 hours, TWICE PER DAY, While not USING THE DEVICE (I teach during the day), at the following stats:

-Wifi off
-GPS off
-Brightness set to ZERO
-email fetch at 30 minutes
-4G off

It was unacceptable. I luckily got a new RAZR last night, and even by the looks of it (2 hours in at 83%), this one isn't a dud!

Can I get Battery details people. I don't think my battery life is for shit. I've read about all the settings to extend battery life. and tryed them all. My screen brightness is usually at 0%. I seems like i can onlt play with the phone for about 2 hours before its about dead. This is not playing high end games. It just surfing on the internet, playing a little angry, checking email. looking at weather. sending a few texts. this type of stuff.

Battery info at 30% shows android OS @ 34% = 21m:55s Display @ 29% = 1h 8m 0s Cell Standby @ 7% = 5h 30m 6s

Phone Idle @ 7% = 4h 22m 19s Android system @ 4% = 2m 7s rild @ 3% = 1m 51s Wi-fi @ 3% = 41m 10s

Everything else is 2% or less only 4 of them show up right now.

If you don't know how to find these reading on your phone goto: Settings > Battery information > Battery Use. Then tap on each line for details.

I was told at the store that i sould be able to use this phone like this for 7 hours or so. I don't seem to be getting anywhere near there. I would be very happy if i could get that.

Do i have an issue with my phone? I've had it since friday last week. the battery should be conditioned by now.

As of right now the battery life is the best I have seen. I have had numerous phones and this one has them beat hands down. EVO, Nexus, iPhone. The Razr has got you. Just hope it holds up.

Mm, no. The iPhone 4 and 4s destroy the Razr when it comes to battery life.

(Perceived) battery life on mine is still getting better (got it on Monday).

It came off the charger 17.5 hours ago and is currently at 14%. I usually don't leave it alone for more than a few minutes (it's still a great new toy after all), spend a few minutes in this or that app every now and then, send a text, play a few minutes, download the occasional app, had one 20min phone call. It was trying to connect to the Wifi for about half of the time (which won't let it for some reason) and sat on 3G (UMTS) all day long (with hardly any actual traffic, however).

When it gets back on the charger, it will probably have been off for over 18 hours with more than 10% left. I think that looks pretty good for the powerhouse that it is.

The iPhone is not LTE. My GSM (Canadian) Razr seems to get better battery life than my iPhone 4.

Its not the phone that sucks in battery life. Its the radio. If you put LTE in an iPhone it would die even faster.

Really? Interesting. I started on the battery today (6:00 am) and have used it somewhat heavily (for me).

I still have 25% battery remaining after 15.5 hours.

You should try setting a "Smart Action" to turn off cellular data, Wi-Fi, Blu-tooth and synch when the screen is off. You will still receive texts as well as phone calls.

I am fortunate as I am in a work environment where this is possible. If I use it sparingly during the day, I use about 1% of my battery per hour!!!

By comparison, several of my co-workers have iPhone 4 and they are charging their phones every day by lunch.

Update - Had great usage until I installed motocast on my computer. Does anyone know if that could be draining in the background? My media use is back up (70%) in an hour and haven't even used the phone. I never did a format of my card, but it was ok for a while. Here's what's showing...

DRM Protected Content Storage
OMA Download

Download Manager

THoughs???

Reboot the phone go into applications find MotoCast and force close it. That should fix the problem.

I've heard of MP 4's causing the device to constantly scan the SD Card is some cases. You may want to format the SD card if all else fails

Tried that, that was not the cause. Formatted the sd card, still draining like crazy. Nothing on the card. Verizon/motorola guy said it's normal!

I have only used 4G for a few hours so far, but with 3G, the battery life has been as good as my Droid 3 with the extended battery- that is good.
