Root Anyone else having these issues?

I just flashed CM9, everything went smoothly...until I rebooted. Everytime I reboot my phone gets stuck at the loading screen. I've had to sbf 3 times and start over, every time with the same outcome. First I rebooted with Quick Boot...froze at loading, then I tried rebooting through CWM...froze at loading, then I long pressed power button chose reboot...froze at loading. I just wanna make sure I'm not the only person having these issues. BTW I'm on a Droid X.

Are you on either system version .602 or .605? Did you check the MD5 of the zip file to make sure it wasn't corrupted during the download? The answer to one of these questions will be "no" and that's where you're going wrong.

I came from the Milestone .604. And have no clue on how to check the MD5, I've just rooted my phone and started doing all of this a few days ago, so I'm still learning.

The only way to use recovery on CM9 is to hit the power button, then choose reboot, then choose recovery. If you try to get into clockwork any other way, you will brick your device like that. I did that 3 times before I figured it out too. Also certain programs can do that, or if you don't wipe EVERYTHING before the install it can do that.

So I can't enter recovery by simply going through Bootstrapper? I've tried rebooting from the phones long press power button menu and that froze as well, didn't try to get into recovery that way though.

Haha thanks man, I was kind of wondering if that was the issue. So I just need to un-install it and use the ROMs rebooting feature?

I had to go back and sbf, and the whole deal. It sucked hard. Maybe you can get away with less, I couldn't. But yeah, bootstrapper isn't built for an ICS ROM.

Ugh, I've had to sbf three times already and re-install everything haha. I may just try to delete and see if that works, but for now as long as I don't reboot everything works flawlessly. Thanks for the help man I really appreciate it.

You just can't use bootstrapper. When the device is on, hit the power button. Then select restart. Then select recovery, your DX will boot into recovery clockwork.

If you're on a 2nd-init ROM (CM7, CM9, ICS, MIUI, etc) you have to either use the "Reboot to Recovery" option from the power menu or use ROM Manager to get into Clockwork. As you've already discovered, using bootstrapper on a 2nd-init ROM will leave you frozen at the red M and you'll have to SBF. You _can_ use bootstrapper while on Motorola stock or any blur-based ROM like Shuji, VorteX, and Liberty.

Make sure your download of the ROM you're trying to flash wasn't corrupted by checking the MD5. I use the Astro file manager app to do this. Long press on the file and go to Details. The site that you downloaded the ROM from should list the MD5 there and it needs to match what's on your phone.
