Help Anyone Else's Google Maps Not Update Position As They Move?

So I have had an Evo V 4G for a year or two now, completely stock. Recently I've been having a few problems with it, the biggest is with the GPS/Google Maps/Navigation.

When I try to launch Google maps, it will often not connect to GPS service (even after I've made sure I have GPS enabled in the phone's settings); and I have to turn off my phone, pull the battery and sim card, then put them both back in and restart the phone to get the GPS to connect.

On top of that, the GPS will often not update my position as I am traveling, it will lag FAR behind where I actually am on the calculated route. The only way to get this to update is to swipe on the phone screen to look at some part of the map not near my location, then hit the button in the corner that points the map back at my current location (the screen will freeze for a few seconds, then jump to show my actual current position).

This is a very big problem, because unless I am constantly staring at my phone screen while driving to check that it's updating my current position (quite unsafe), the GPS/Google Maps/Navigation is practically useless.

Does any one else have this problem? This (along with other problems with this phone) is making me think of switching to one of T-Mobile no contract plans and upgrading to a Galaxy 3 or 4.

Google Maps has been bugging out on me for some time too. I have similar problems as well as it produces graphical glitches. The only solution I found was to uninstall all updates in the App settings menu. Try it out to see if it solves your issues too.

I will give this a try; however I'm not expecting much change, as these problems were occuring before the recent update to Google maps.

I had a lot issues with the EVO V 4G and its GPS. The GPS on the original phone would very rarely get a fix so for all intents and purposes, navigation using it was useless. I called VM customer service after about 5 months of terrible GPS on the phone and they sent a replacement (since it was less than a year old).

The replacement phone was better at getting and keeping a GPS fix, but it still was not as good as the Optimus V's GPS. Another thing I noticed is that the GPS on the EVO did not work as well if the phone was plugged into the charger.

I have since moved on to the ZTE AWE and the GPS is much better than the HTC EVO V. Just my experience.

Navigation has been buggin out on me recently too. Really annoying. :(

I'll be in the middle of navigation expecting the next instruction only to find out I am stuck on the map miles away. The only way I have found to get it to resume is to end navigation and start over.

I didn't think it was a GPS issue, but I'll have to pay closer attention next time it happens.
