Anyone ever try the Blackphone?

There's nothing wrong with wanting more privacy.

It's a right in the United States and some people feel strongly about it.

The argument that you ought not have anything to hide is the darling of totalitarian regimes.

Let's just support people who want that and are interested in this phone without questioning their motives or consciousness.

They have the right. ;) :)

Kudos you've summed it up quite nicely, I share your viewpoint.

That's great and all but it doesn't say anything absinthe phone or how it secure your data. When more info is released I will gladly look into it

Think Blackphone and Darkmatter would either have to release the source code for their software, and if they're using GPL software they're obliged to release it, or they're independently audited and verified. Otherwise we might just be taking their word for it.

Nope.

Just as Samsung and HTC are not obligated to release their proprietary portions of their codes, neither would these guys be.

As for taking their word - perhaps.

The Ars Technica tests were fair enough, the foundation methods can be implemented on your own for the most part if you have programming and security skills and - nothing is perfect.

It's why we have constant white hat/black hat briefings on what's broken lately.

The Blackphone is an integration of known methods with subscription services for maintaining a lower data security risk.

That's something that large corporations pay for already for many parts of their IT.

This isn't magic but it doesn't appear full of holes either - it's an entry platform for those wanting big corporation IT without the big support staff and bills.
