Apps Anyone getting strange rating patterns?

It's probably nothing other than "some people like our app and some don't." However, the pattern of our ratings seems kind of odd. I don't know if any of you have had the same experience.

Every time someone rates our app a 5 or 4 star and a nice comment, within 30 minutes someone else gives a 1 star rating (usually no comment attached). I wouldn't think much of it, but the app will go days without any new ratings. Then someone will rate the app high and leave a comment, and once again, minutes later someone will rate it 1 star (no comments). Days go by, then the same thing all over again.

There is a lot of human nature at play there. People want to try and "correct" the average as they see it.

Also people tend to think in extremes. This is why 3 and 2 star ratings are super uncommon (relatively).

Also there is a subset of users that will rate 1 star if they ever have DRM issues. Some even if you use DRM.

And, depending on your competition, it's certainly possible that they are messing with your ratings. This really depends on what kind of app you make though.


To answer your question though, I havent seen any ratings that were so far outside the norm for me to suspect foul play. Rather, it just seemed like people being people. And I can't blame anyone for that.
