Anyone had any real world comparison experience yet with the Pixel vs the 6p?

Just watched a detailed review of the Pixel XL. No doubt nice device but other than I think it having one more gig of ram 4 vs 3 and what being $300 more, am I missing something major about it being $300 in superior value to the 6p? I'm just not seeing why I would spend the extra 300 over the 6p what so ever. The are almost identical in most areas it seems. If I'm missing something major the supports the $300 in price difference or market value supports it, pleaae let me know. Either Flagships are grossly overpriced or the 6p is one of the best deals and devices currently on the market for the money from the review I just watched. Sure the newly released software on the Pixel is cool but that and one more gig of ram, how on earth can you justify paying 700 for basically a branded name change of the Nexus 6p that has been given a non noticeable difference amount of ram and a reduced screen size. Screen size is subjective and not really a market value factor. My vote is the 6p as I saw not one thing that made me say to myself, I would like to have that device. Basically if you have the 6p, you've got a Pixel really. I've got to have missed something major

A few coworkers have let me play with their Pixels. It's a nice phone (okay, a REALLY nice phone), but I'm still pretty happy with my 6P for the most part.

From where I'm sitting, the one big advantage the Pixel has is its camera. I was pretty pleased with the 6P camera until I tried the Pixel's. They worked some serious magic on that - even shooting HDR is literally instantaneous. There's no shutter lag whatsoever, no waiting for photos to process. Shoot a burst, and you immediately get presented with the best shot of the group as well as an animation of the series.

I want a Pixel for the camera, but that's currently about it.

The camera and build quality on it are amazing.

I've ordered a pixel twice now, only to cancel it a few days later deciding it wasnt really worth it. I do really want one though, and will likely make the move if the price drops.

...Or if I get the itch again. The financing options make the sticker shock a little easier.

If I did make the move, I would miss the stereo front facing speakers on the 6P. Not sure what they were thinking going back to single firing speaker on the bottom

I just think there is not enough difference between the two devices to justify $300 difference in market value. Sure I'd love a Pixel but having watched the detailed review I didn't see the major difference that supported $300. It's simply bc is an official Google device now and deemed a flagship. The 6p real world is just too similar and it can be gotten for 399.

No doubt part of it is paying for the Pixel name. Its Google's premium brand. With that said, nexus is dead, and we can't expect future models to be cheaper if Google wants to pursue being a true iPhone contender.

For me - the improved build quality, stunning camera, pixel exclusive features (assistant, figerprint scanner gestures, ect), and seamless updates are definitely value added. $300? Maybe not, but thats for each person to decide. I won't try to persuade anyone, its their money.

Another note on the seamless updates - for this to work, its got two totally different system and boot partitions, and a bootloader flag tells it which one to boot into.

For people that like to root/mod, that means its possible in the future we could switch between rooted/unrooted for working android pay on the go, or to swap between custom roms with just a simple reboot. They share data partitions so everything would be set up the exact same way between the two. I imagine you could even install a custom ROM on the 2nd partition without having to shut the phone down to flash from recovery. Just a simple reboot later and you're all set. No need to reinstall apps or sync data between them. Any data changes made on one ROM would carry over.

I've got both devices. The Pixel XL is just ridiculously fast. The fluidity of the OS is just amazing, even better than iOS, which is really damn slick. If most flagships android phones are Arnold from Terminator, the Pixel is the liquid metal robot introduced in Terminator 2. Also, the screen is great. I have no problem seeing it in direct sunlight, despite what testing shows about it's nits. And the camera is great. The speaker on the bottom of the phone is loud. But it sucks compared to the 6p FF speakers. If you game or watch a lot of video, seriously, keep the 6p.
My criticisms - the camera isn't perfect. I think my favorite camera right now is the iPhone 7+. The video is better than the Pixel and the OIS is even better because you don't get the occasional picture jerk that you get on the EIS on the Pixel. Also, the price is just nuts. I have a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I'm getting ripped off. However, BestBuy right now has a deal that gets you a $100 BB GC and $35 Chromecast. So that makes things a little better.

If you have any questions on the two devices, let me know.

Thanks for the great description. Very detailed and helpful.

I bought the pixel, and have my 6P. I opted for the pixel (not the XL). The camera is far better for sure. Video is more stable on it to. Performance seems faster, but it's not massive gains in my opinion, but the 6P isn't on 7.1 so you can't really compare yet.. The speakers seem quieter, and I don't like them bottom firing. I'm glad I upgraded though, but the price point is tough for many. If you're on the fence, wait for a discount.
