Help Anyone had proximity sensor issues?

My Desire's screen takes forever to turn its screen back on when I move it away from my face. This means, in call, I can't access anything nor hang up most of the time.

It works better in bright light, but indoors, it's a no-no.

I have no case, nor screen protector as I thought it might be this.

Anyone else had an issue?

How long exactly is "forever"?

Have you rebooted? Have you tried a factory reset (don't forget to back up what you can and be prepared to lose what you can't)?

Try downloading a sensor test app or ten from the market. It may show the sensor has an issue. Last resort you might want to contact HTC to return for repair).

I had an issue with my phone after owning it for only 3 weeks. In my case the proximity sensor would never work. The screen would be blank and locked after a phone call. I tried resetting it, also tried different apps. Finally in the end telus sent my phone out for repair. It took them 3 weeks to repair it but now it works fine and have no issues. They had to replace the main board. If you google HTC Desire screen goes blank you will find many threads on this subject its a very common problem with HTC Desire's.

On my new Desire my wife somehow managed to redial a long distance call. Creating to LD sessions while positioning it to her face aligning the speaker which I have cranked up to max volume. I don't know where that sensor is but its likely not the best for all situations.

Sometimes not at all during a call. Sometimes 10 seconds. Other times instantly.

I've download a sensor app and it confirms it's not responding correctly.

Not done a factory re-set. Looks like that's the next step.
