Anyone have the car mount in hand?

Can someone who has it take a look at it and tell me if the part of it that holds the device can come apart from the rest of it and be mounted to something else (something like this) fairly easily?

I don't like suction cups. They're tacky.

if u go to verizon wireless they are selling the accessories. they dont have them on display but they are selling them. i just bought the media dock today.

same here, but they had to ship me the car dock, they didnt have that one out back. my rep said it'll be here friday though, so i'll live =)

to the op, looking at the motorola website and picture of the dock, it doesnt look like it'd be able to be mounted in a different way, but i could be wrong

I don't think it will work. The back of the part that clips onto the phone has two extruding squared hooks that slide into grooves on the car mount. I have a mount like that in my car, and attached the included disc with the adhesive to that mount. Then the suction cup from the mount sticks to the disc.

Oh well. I'm sure ProClip will make a mount for that phone eventually. Hopefully they include a magnet to make it automatically pop up Car Home.

Thanks

Here's a pic showing the connection from the arm to the phone mounting plate.

I am for sure going to pick just one up and try to retro it to my proclip.

even if i can't at $23 with my discount it beats the crap out of the ProClip Pricing and wait :)

(sorry ProClip if your watching this, and if you are get off your arse and go buy the clip from VZW copy it and send me mine next week.)

I'm actually impressed with the strength of the suction cup on this mount. I have one from GriffinTechnology for my iPhone that has a knob to tighten the suction cup. when putting the suction cup onto the included disc, a slight bump and it falls off. With the Droid mount, I keep bumping it and pulling on it to try to get it to fall off, and it just doesn't.

OP, i have the same mount for my VW GTI in my center vent. I use it for my GPS currently but i do it a little different. I took one of those little adhesive discs that come with some GPS units and stuck it onto the proclip mount. From there it allows me to suction cup anything to the mount and making it easy to change. i plan on using this same mount without having to modify anything whatsoever

Let me know how that goes. I'm not even that impressed with the holster Motorola made itself...but it's better than nothing to begin with. Suction cups, however, are not better than nothing. If my choices are that or my pocket...it stays in my pocket.

ProClip charges and arm and a leg...but I've never seen products even close to their quality. I've had them for 3 different phones in 3 different cars already.

you can easily plastic weld or super glue the brackets to the proclip mount. or if you dont mind the suction cup then do what i did in my post above. I NEVER have any problems with my suction cup. It never falls off and my car is extremely lowered and has one of the STIFFEST suspensions you've ever felt. If it doesnt fall off with me hitting bumps and everything then it seems good enough
