Anyone have their Network+ cert?

How hard is it? Would it be hard to pass it just from doing the practice tests on their website? Getting that certification counts for my network class final. Semester just started and instructor said that no matter when we take it, if we pass it we get an 'A' for the class and don't have to come for the rest of the semester

CompTIA has more than one cert, which one are you talking about.

Well it's for my Network Core Technologies class... Let me check if it specifies...
Ah ha - CompTIA Network+ Test[FONT=&quot]

My 360 dollar text book did come with a voucher to take the test so while i'd love to be able to take the test now and skip this class i'm not trying to fail it and then pay out of pocket for another crack at it. Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.[FONT=&quot]

get as much studying done as you can. thats what ive been doing and while it sucks, its really rewarding when your hard work pays off.

and if you havent already look into getting your A+ certification as well.

If you're looking for sample tests, etc. Avoid Certmagic. I made the mistake of buying their program for the CSTE. It was a total waste of money.

Network + isn't all that hard. Depending on your networking experience. I would compare it to how easy A+ was. I have my A+, Network +, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCITP, and my VMware Cert.
PM if you need help.

Just study the book you already have it should be more than enough. The N+ isnt all that hard basically just knowing the different types of wires/connections and some basic protocols.

Most likely your book came with some practice tests. Do those until you get at least a 90% consistently and you should pass. If you want some additional material email or pm me.

Thanks, i may just do that. I'm about 4 weeks away from needing to take test

let me know when you take it, i need to get off my ass and go get mine. been studying just havent actually gone to et it. I hate networking :(

As a sophomore in high school, I took a practice A+ test that was about 6 years outdated, and asked questions that weren't covered in the class, and I got a 39%. I feel that I can pass that test quite easily, but I was wondering what the difficulty of the Networking+ test is in comparison to the A+. Also, how long does the Network+ cert last, cuz I know the A+ lasts 3 years.

Network+ is a pretty simple exam if you have a solid understanding of:

* TCP
* IP
* Clients vs Servers
* OSI model
* Ethernet (Specifically, collision domains)

So, yeah, I think if you score well on the practice exams, you should be able to pass no problems. Nobody but you sees the final score, and if you just barely pass, who cares? If you do great, you get to brag about your score.

Yea at this point i don't give 2 sh*ts what my score is as long as i pass. Haven't had enough time to study and just got a 64 on my mid term... ouch..... BUT i at least have a better feel for what is expected. I had a lot of real stupid mistakes

I have A+ and Network+ they wern't all that hard to pass and I was working 12-16 hour days in a steel mill when I took the tests and still passed barely studying I went a lot off of what I already knew and scored a 97% on both. GL :D

Try the testking. I do not now about Network+ but I got my CCNA only by self studying via testking and cisco simulator.

I've got both A+ and Network+. A+ was easy for me, but I have a degree in CET and CompSci, and had 9 years real experience when I passed the exams. Network+, however, was much harder due to the quantity of information that the test contains. You have to memorize a bunch of older networking standards and theory that you will practically never run across most of in the field today. I passed the exam, but only after a few months of real studying and taking practice exams. I did not attempt the real test until I was averaging 90% on the practice exams. Good luck, and take advantage of the class you are in right now, it's the best way to absorb and memorize the material.

those with the certs did it actually help in ur careers meaning did it help u land the job and get u better pay?
