Help Anyone having low signal

Yes, I'm having the same issue. I'm a new Sprint customer, so didn't know what to expect. A co-worker who also has a NS4G is a long-term Sprint customer and just upgraded from a Hero. He said the Hero got a much better signal at work than the NS4G.

Thanks for posting that link. Looks like Sprint has their hands full on this one.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not an antenna problem. CDMA is an interesting protocol and I have a hunch that a software update will fix this problem.

Per a Google forum
"This issue was not addressed in the OS 2.3.4 that's recently started rolling out; we're still investigating."

It would really stink for early adopters if it ends up being a hardware problem. I'm hoping they get this fixed because this sounds like a sweet phone and I'm looking to get one (that works).

my signal appears low phone works fine, data speed is fine, talking is clear not cutting out so it dont bother me at all

Thanks for your post and these links. Im looking to perhaps get a Nexus S 4G and will be switching from VZW. Mainly to get a lower bill each month and was looking at this phone.

I think I will wait this one out a bit to see how it works out.

Cheers.

Probably be doing the same today. It looks ike my droid x finally shit the bed. It's be acting wiggy for the last couple of weeks. Problems with the touch screen not working, not able to answer calls, ect now the screens twitching like an epileptic. I guess Ill have to pick up a nexus today as I need a reliable phone. worse comes to worse I guess ill switch it out for an evo 4g.

No went back to my EVO for now. No idea what I'm going to do.
I really do want a 4inch 4g phone with no keyboard. Maybe Sprint just isn't where I should be anymore.

Dont blame you. The Evo is an awesome device. Im on the fence myself. I was looking to go to Sprint from VZW to save some dough. I currently am running a Droid X which has been good to me.

I wanted a stock Android phone so I can get all the latest updates etc from Google.

I hear that the next Nexus is going to be out around Christmas time with Ice Cream Sandwich installed. May have to wait for that. Not sure what carrier it will be with. There are rumors though that the next Nexus phone will be made by Motorola however.

Good luck man. Will let you know what I decide with as well.

Cheers.

I've updated my Profile and PRL and none of that is doing anything to help. Slow data for everything. Has anyone heard anything else about this problem?

My NS4G is going between 1 bar and zero bars here at work in the middle of Los Angeles - my blackberry would always have 4/5 bars here. I also just got a "data roaming" notification triangle.

I'm very concerned! Will this be addressed in a software update?

If you can do what I did and just take it back. The more returns they get the faster they will fix the issue or let it die. Lucky for me I had an EVO to fall back on.

I've seen the triangle a few times myself. Lots of connection error messages too. 3G is a lost cause at home or work. I've already confirmed my Verizon account is just suspended, so this baby is going back.

Just upgraded to the nexus from a hero. i've been carrying both of them around to compare signal strength and the hero's is definitely better.

i'm not a cdma expert, but have a theory...please let me know if i'm going the correct direction.

my service has always been crap at my house and I often roam (my last 4 sprint phones). when my nexus is on the sprint network at home i usually have -96 to -110 for my signal, but when it switches to roaming (i'm assuming verizon) it jumps to between -65 and -72 and has perfect reception. I also haven't seen better then -86 anywhere I have gone. This makes me think that it is a software and not hardware problem. Maybe the way it is interacting with our network?

Sprint is sending me an airwave, i'll report back when it gets to the house!

I'm selling it (more $$ than returning it) and switching to VZW. I hate to say it, but my signal *sucks* everywhere I go in town with this phone. I love the NS4G, it's the only android phone I'm interested in right now.

Switching to VZW iPhone. I really do prefer Android's OS over iPhone's, but signal quality is #1 importance (and I don't like any of big red's Android phones, too bulky). I may switch back to a Nexus device in the future, we'll see.

Good luck, brave soldiors. Hope Sprint releases an update for y'all.
