Anyone interested in the Style?

If that was sporting a 6" screen I'd be saying, "OMG THAT'S THE ONE!!" As it stands it has left me torn. Do I get the screen I want on the Nexus 6 or do I get the latest and greatest on the X Style and compromise on screen?

I like that they've added MicroSD card support and those back choices are pretty styling if not interchangeable. I think I'll give Motorola a try this year. Weren't they the people who had those chirping phones out a ways back? Nobody every complained about those phones just that damned chirp.

The X was ranged for a short time (we saw one in Inverness!) but disappeared from inventory within a couple of months. We may have more luck this time as the 3rd gen G has just made an appearance, albeit contract-only for now.
Inverness, FL? I live about 20min from there.. [emoji41]

I have a '14 X now and absolutely love it, loved the '13 as well. Honestly one of the best phones I've had.

I tried the N6 for a day, that thing was just too darn big for my girly hands. As much as I wanted to love it I just couldn't.

I'm really, really hoping this new one (Pure) will a better size for me, the '14 X is just about perfect so I'm a tad worried that this might still be too big.

I don't need a new phone but we'll see :D

I'm all set with the N6 ... couldn't be happier with it (although I still haven't mastered "Okay, Google, make me a martini" ;) ). The wife was looking at the G4, but I think I might steer her to the X (Style) and I think she'd be happier with it.

I will probably jump back to the X. I have missed the software enhancements native to the Moto X line, and I could use a bit of a downsize. I can almost see them making this version (The Style) for those of us that liked the N6 but didn't LOVE the N6. The screen real estate is still present but the footprint is noticeably smaller. Should be just about right. (for me anyway)

I hope Verizon doesn't play their typical Verizon games with this, like they did with the N6. The whole 'oh, that's not one of our phones so you can't use it on our network' nonsense. I'm betting they will because, after all, it's stupid Verizon.

I still don't need a new phone but that just occurred to me. :D

I have found (at least with us phone forum types) that it's rarely about NEEDING a phone .... mostly about really really really wanting a new phone with new bells and new whistles and cool new shiny things. For me at least, I have loved all my Motorola phones - and could still be using some of them, but dammed if they don't keep rolling out cooler new stuff I just gots to gets me some of. :D

Indeed.

I'm really going to try to be good this time and not get one just to get one. Oh, I say that all the time but THIS time...

Soooo ....

Instead of just getting the phone you lust after, you are going to spend hours, if not days, reviewing and comparing features and spec's until you've convinced yourself that there is no way you can live without them and then do a mental cost/return comparison until you've extrapolated that the added benefits will not only NOT cost you anything extra, but will actually make your life easier, cheaper and more fulfilling while paying off college debt, mortgages and car loans in the process ... and then you get the new phone. ;)

At least that's what *I* do. :D

I am not even going to play around. I am not gonna lie to you, or me, or .... my wife. (yikes)
I will say, nay, I will shout it from the highest mountaintop. I WANT A NEAT NEW PHONE EVERY YEAR!!! Is that really all that wrong? I don't go out drinkin' and carousing, I have few hobbies (that cost a lot) I don't drive a fancy car, I don't have (or want) a 75 inch TV, honestly phone geeking is really my only major expense annually. And I work for a living, if I want to spend give or take 400 bucks a year on myself. Well dog gone it, I will.

:D

Anybody think that argument will work on the wife?
Yea me neither. but worth a shot right?

I've liked a lot of what Moto have done in recent years, but there's always been something that hasn't quite added up for me, and I'm afraid they've done it again. It's good to see the reintroduction of the SD card, but the "mid-range" Play having 20% more battery capacity than the "flagship" Style/Pure seems a little odd to me , and the budget G has a better IP rating than either of the X models. But making both X models phablets means that, with regret, I'm out :(.

IR Blaster = Something I can control my telly with?

Does it work with Satellite/Cable boxes too?
Yep to the first question.

On my HTC M8, it works with anything because that's truly a blaster - and has a learning mode from other remotes.

Some devices are just IR out only, so you'll have more hassle supporting odd devices - impossible if you can't get the discrete codes.
