Anyone know how to disable this popup correction thing?

I switched to a new phone recently, and i noticed that Gboard is doing this annoying thing where if it detects a typo and i tap on the letter to fix it but instead it selects the entire word and a popup shows up with words that it thinks im trying to type. On my old phone the suggestions usually show up at the suggestion strip above the number row. Now whenever i do a typo on my native language and i wanna correct it, this thing just shows up thinking "hey these are the english words you're probably looking for". I dont know if its a Gboard thing or a realme thing because my oneplus didnt do anything like this

I don't know how to turn it off, but I do have a couple of suggestions that may mitigate it. Can you install the language that matches yours so that it isn't confusing properly spelled words in your language as being misppelled in English? That would be under language and input in settings.

Another option is to slide your finger across the space bar to move the cursor to the location where you want to make a correction instead of tapping on the screen. It should move the cursor one character at a time.
