Help Anyone knows ecsv.bak format?

My friend lost his phone and all he has is a contacts001.ecsv.bak file. The file is not a plain text file. Any idea how to recover the contacts from it?

You could try opening it with Kies.
If doesn't recognize the bak file, try renaming it to escv and then again, open it through kies.
In the future, save your contacts to gmail, and it will restore them automatically upon registering the phone with google credentials.

The .bak extension is usually used to backup an old file before making changes.

I'd get rid of the .bak and see if that helps the programs recognize it

In the future, I'd strongly suggest your friend to keep his/her contacts as Google contacts in the phone. That way they are synced to the clound and aren't lost in situations like this
