Anyone looking forward to touching UX?

I'm actually looking forward to the update because I heard that the experience is smoother. Anyone else looking forward? Any comments? Questions? Lol

Well I got mine rooted yesterday so I'll give some of the UX ROMs a shot tomorrow. Looks to be a couple out there at XDA. Gave my 10.1 a whole 16hrs of stock time before rooting! (longer than my Nook Color though ;)

Well play..I heard it runs smoother and their are a couple of neat add ons that are cool like the mini app tray. The watch this video for a little understanding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyp0k2veGsE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Just flashed one of the UX ROMs (deodexed) from XDA. Working well so far. Rooting and ROMing this device doesn't seem to be any more difficult than any other device out there.

Mitch, the added widgets are really nice. The slight theming is fine. I've noticed a bit of sluggishness vs. stock HC but haven't done any benchmarks yet (haven't had time!). However, I have to say, the experience and UI is a whole lot better than stock. Why Samsung has added so much and not taken away (vs. Touchwiz for phones), is really a step in the right direction. Plenty of directions out there on rooting and loading up a stock UX Rom are out there on XDA.

Been running it for about a week now, and it is a bit sluggish compared to stock, but I was expecting that with it being an early release of TouchWiz and no additional mods or tweaks done to it. Has alot of nice widgets added, as well as a dedicated screenshot button, and the mini app tray. Ive heard some people complain about the dark over all feel of honeycomb and touchwiz definitely brightens it up with the new icons and light grey menus.

For those that are running touchwiz after rooting, how is the performance with the keyboard when on the stock browser? Is it better then stock HC?

Well, I use Swiftkey, but there's still a slight lag between input and appearance of the letters. It's quite annoying. Hopefully some sort of update can fix that.

To download updates to the Tab, including TouchWiz, does one really have to create yet another account? I read somewhere you have to create a Samsung account to download updates for the Tab.... ugh, like we don't have enough online accounts to keep up with. There are things about my Tab that I'm not happy about, so I hope TouchWiz will resolve them.

Is TouchWiz just an enchancement to the Honeycomb OS or is it actually an updated release? In other words, will it be considered Honecomb 3.2 or something like that?

Well for your first question, yes you do have to make a Samsung account to get any updates ota. And as of now, we are unsure if touchwiz UX will include 3.2 so it's just an enchantment of honeycomb until further notice.

I dont believe anyone here knows what touchwiz brings to the tablet. The features it brings are revolutionary.

  1. Performance improvements across the board. The official ROM with official Touchwiz runs smoother with less lag.
  2. Multitasking like in Windows. Nothing like it available in stock HC or market.
  3. Ability to adjust screen temperature colors, again not available in any HC tablet.
  4. One touch wifi sync.
  5. Notification/setting popup menu is light years ahead of stock HC or anything available in the market.
  6. Lots of nice widgets added.
  7. One touch screen capture button in the task bar.
  8. Motion jestures
  9. Best App and RAM manager I have ever seen.
Im just scratching the surface. The list of added functionality and features are really amazing.

What do you mean by "Multitasking like Windows"?

I guess the big question is... do we get it as an OTA update on the same day the folks at the Samsung event get it, which is Wednesday the 3rd? Or do we have to wait?

Wow can't believe I found people not talking about TouchWiz like it's the devil :P. Guess UX is way better than the phone version.

Anyone know what the update process will be for those of us with LTE tabs? I'm pretty excited about this, it does look really cool.

i hope the OTA is available on aug. 3rd, also. i'll be out of the country, europe, soon after that. would be nice to have it installed and stabilized before i take it overseas...oh, wait, i'll see if there's a leak of the official update. :P

Great preview and writeup here

I'm torn between getting transformer and tab 10.1. This TouchWiz UX seems to bring many good improvements to tab 10.1 which is getting lower benchmark score than transformer. Looks like tab 10.1 is on HC 3.1 currently. Do you think this TouchWiz UX will complicate and delay update to HC 3.2?
