Root Anyone Running Fresh 3.5.0.1 ...

Anyone Running Fresh 3.5.0.1 having issues with HTC Weather app stuck on "My Location" and HTC weather not working at all? I really dig the animated gui, but sucks that it doesnt work for me anymore. I'm sure its an HTC or Accuweather issue coz the Android News&Weather "Weather" widget has the correct location. I have searched the forums for issues with the weather widget, but it seems that this is an on going issue.

Maybe there is a way to reinstall the HTC Weather app. Anyone know how to do this or if its possible?

I really like the simplicity and reliability of Fresh, but I'm contemplating switching to Cyanogen CM7 or 6.1. If I do make the switch, can I do that via Fresh Updater? Or do I reboot n flash the ROM over Fresh?

Maybe Flipz has some good news on an upcoming update. ;) :p

did you try clearing the cache? try a reboot. i dont think you can flash CM from the fresh updater the best way would be to DL to sd card, nandroid then complete wipe then flash. i dont think fresh will be updatng anytime soon i may be wrong...CM is awesome dont get me wrong just be prepared to do some tinkering with cm7 its nightlies. coming from fresh is pretty stable.
 
I had a problem with the weather app too, but don't use the widget. I set it to manual update and enabled both location sources. Once it locked on for the first time it seems to work. But I've only tried it for a few days.

Funny, I tried CM7 when it was very unstable, then 6.whatever which was mostly good, then CM7 again, now happy with Fresh. I deleted many worthless/detrimental apps and am getting almost exactly the same CPU utilization and memory usage I got with CM. But super-stable, and GPS works perfectly.

Don't like the Sense launcher much after using ADW under CM. Liked the Zeam launcher but it isn't supported anymore, and I prefer to eliminate the dock bar. I love Multicon for any launcher, using little clusters of related app icons instead of folders.

Cleared the cache under Application/Manage Apps/HTC Weather and did multiple reboots, and still no bueno.

cm7 is "nightlies"?

I guess I'll just stick with Fresh and wait for another update since thats the only app having issues. BTW, does Fresh have some themes? I love the stability of the Stock ROM, but I like the customization part. Especially when everyone post their cool screen shots. But I know those or all custom roms.

I'm currently still rocking 3501 and I have no complaints really, battery life can be slightly better but it gets me thru the day even if its just barely. Other than that, weather and everything else works great on this ROM. I contemplated going to Myn Z and actually have used Warm Myn but it was for me. I may come back to it tho. Flipz has been slow w/ the updates and I think he's just becoming busier now a days. Oh well, cheers to a great ROM anyway.
 
Flipz from my experience doesn't build updates until a new OTA comes out then he will build some as betas til he gets all the kinks worked out. I know he has a lot on his plate lately, but it seems most of his projects have come to a halt as of late.

Has he gotten married yet, or is he still planning it? It's understandable that he's tied up atm whether he's newly married or still planning it.

I like Fresh for its stability and simplicity so I'll just leave it at that and wait til he comes out with a new build. I used to be a flash whore ;) and tried several different ROMs in the past with my previous phones, but my EVO just does EVERYTHING I want/need it to do so I will just keep it semi-stock. Not to mention, I really dont have time to be tinkering and flashing my phone hourly - its addicting and I have OCD! :o

this is a known issue root or not. it seems to be a fault within sense and shouldn't really matter what rom you are on. http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/106871-why-does-my-evo-think-im-detroit.html one example.

have you tried turning on gps and refreshing? have you tried to boot into recovery and clearing caches? you could also try shutting off auto location and set your location manually.

I think the only permanent fix is to just use a different widget. I use beautiful widgets. similair to sense, but you can customise it. though the animations are not as good.

Have not cleared cache via recovery, but will try that after this reply. Have tried the other options you suggested, but was a no go.

I believe you have to pay for Beautiful Widgets so I would pass on that one.

With the announcement of the EVO 3D, I would assume Gingerbread 2.3 is just around the corner for us EVO 4G users. I can be patient, at times :p , so I will just wait for that update to come out. And hopefully Flipz version is just as smooth and stable as his previous ones.

I am not sure if he did yet or not. Done or not, there is still alot involved in it as you well know based on your profile pic ;)

Tried to clear cache via recovery and still No Bueno! :(
Problem is, to manually set a location, it has to be a familiar city (i.e. Los Angeles - does not recognize my SFV area). Not to mention, when I open the actual weather app it asks me to "Tap here to add city" rather than allowing me to "use current location" as it does when setting up the widget on a home page.
Oh well,... You win some, you lose some. :confused:

I checked the Fresh Update app and there were some themes available ... The lack of frequent updates in this case just indicates stability ... I feel no temptation to change ROMs, though I might go for an SBC kernel.
