Anyone Seen the OTA Patch?

There are rumors of an OTA patch, and one member here was part of the soak test. But has anyone of us common folk actually received the patch yet?

Even Moto Forums makes NO mention of the patch rolling out. And they have a strict non-disclosure policy, so their lack of communication is really unproductive.

Moto forums won't mention it as those are public. Soak tests are closed and private, so any mention of patches, and this latest soak, are in the private forums. Only people who are part of the soak test have access to the forums and the patch to the latest soak.

The "patch" was pushed out to a select few of the soak testers first and then, it was eventually pushed to the rest.

I think it's possible that it will come out. I read somewhere where another individual who was not part of the soak got the update, so it's getting pushed out. It's not pushed out to everyone at once as that would overload the network system. They push these out in "batches", so not everyone will get it at the same time.

BTW, just as an FYI, if you are currently on the latest KK update (before this latest soak), and you haven't unlocked your bootloader, do so now as the upcoming OTA patches the bootloader unlock exploit as well as the Towelroot exploit. Once you take the latest update (which pushes you to 183.46.15), then you will no longer be able to unlock the bootloader (ever) nor will Towelroot work, and until someone else finds a new exploit, you will not be able to root it once on that version.

So, unlock now or forever hold your peace.

Per your legend it seems your Razor is not unlocked/rooted?

If Bolski was part of the weeks-old soak test for the patch, and the patch is still not released to the public (there are NO reports of anyone getting it AFAIK), should we assume that there were some issues that were sent back to engineering? :smokingsomb:

no

I can't say one way or another, but it seems they are still gathering all info from users from what I've read on the private forums for soak testers. We'll just have to wait and see what Moto is up to. They definitely haven't pushed the soak nor the patch yet, so that's a good sign.

When you say "haven't pushed the soak nor patch yet" do you mean a soak has not even been done?

There was a soak, but too many issues were still present that they released a patch to the soak testers. At this time, the soak nor the patch to it has been released AFAIK. When they release it, it should be a release rear contains the soak plus the patch, but testers are still having issues with blue tooth and other issues.

Ah, ok. That was one of the big issues too. While I have not seen it others were complaining of BT and WiFi not getting along. Then again I do not stream from my device.

It must be something got broken as it worked fine under the prior OS version. This breaking of the BT could easily be the battery issue as well, that is if even idle it has to constantly search BT and WiFi connections. My phone presently has the most battery usage under idle and then android os for over 50% of the battery. While they were high it was not this way before.

I guess now I'll stop checking for an update every evening. :(

Since Motorola an Verizon are being so tight lipped about this I would suggest to continue looking for it. I doubt the way it is they will be giving us a heads up in advance.

I am not sure why someone would want that update ..just feels like a a way to be always locked down with Verizon bloat.

Those that are stuck with a locked bootloader would definitely want to upgrade to the first KK OTA for this phone as it re-introduces the bootloader unlocking exploit to unlock the bootloader.

After that, you can then flash back to JB if you wish or stay on KK.

The latest OTA (which hasn't been released yet) patches it, so it's best to upgrade to the original KK and unlock your phone before you take the whenever-it-will-be-released OTA which would then prevent you from being able to go back to the first KK OTA and unlock your bootloader.

As someone who used a phone busted open with that exploit(atrix HD), I would just use a debloated stock version, because I love that command center widget bet the maxx HD flies with argghhh's kernel

**Root and unlock your bootloader before taking this update**

I can verify that BT and WIFI finally play nicely on KK v.15 now. Before the update 2.4ghz Wifi would block if a BT device was paired/connected. BTLE devices would cause more confusion as they might be connected even while not showing in the status.

I didn't lose root after updating, I did have root protection enabled but this small update doesn't seem to wipe /SYSTEM

Does anyone have the file for this OTA yet? I got the OTA a day or two ago on my good phone. I want to try the update on the Verizon bricked (I can still get to the triage screen) back in May I have data on that phone that I NEED to recover and neither Verizon or Motorola has been any help. Verizon flat out lied to me when I talked with them last (about a week and a half ago).

That OTA is pretty small and just a patch not the whole OS image. Your best bet is getting modified FXZ file that doesn't wipe data using one of the flash scripts.

If you can get it to boot into a recovery where adb works, maybe you can pull files from it.

Wasn't this update supposed to address Bluetooth? I don't see any improvement. My phone was working PERFECTLY before the KK update a few months ago. Ever since then, I occasionally don't get a Bluetooth connection between the phone and my car (or it doesn't recognize to disconnect even after the car is off).

Even when I do get a connection, I now no longer get the metadata info (Track Name/Artist) transferred to my stereo. It's frustrating because I used to play music off my phone all the time and it was great. Oh, and there is the occasional audio popping too, but I think that may be due to general phone lagginess, not Bluetooth specifically.

I was very disappointed to see these issues persist even after the OTA.
