Anyone Seen the OTA Patch?

This time the battery was better at 3D12H and 47% left. I like to charge, especially with the higher drain, at about 50% left. That is just in case I have to run out and use the phone a lot.

My phone is not a maxx, just the regular HD DROID and I can get at least 1.5 days. I run the Xposed app with the Greenify, Unbounce and AppOpsXposed modules. I'm also running CM11 as well.

Where is CM11 at, 4.4.4? Reason I ask is 4.4.4 is known to have better battery handling.

Thanks, found that and had the 9/16 now just got the 9/20. There is just no recent TWRP. The app TWRP manager does not list the xt926.

Go here to get TWRP:

[Recovery]TWRP 2.8.0.0 (09-14-14) - VZW Droid Razr/Razr Maxx HD Development [XT926] - DroidRzr.com

Do note that it can be flakey at times. You'll attempt to reboot into TWRP and you'll get a black screen. You just have to reboot the phone maybe two or three times before it appears to work. Not sure what it is, but it appears to be a bug in TWRP. So, if you see a black screen after selecting recovery, just press and hold vol down+vol up+power for at least 10 seconds to reboot and then attempt to go into recovery again.

A few questions before proceeding with this.

1.) My plan includes mobile hot spot. This is accessible from the app menu. By default will CM11 have this too?

2.) does the phone have to be reinitialized to the Verizon network?

Yes, it has it.

Not sure what you mean by "reinitialized". It will automatically register itself with Verizon. You will have to restore your contacts (if you have them backed up to Google then you are good to go). You will have to reinstall apps and data, so if you have a way to back them up (like with TiBu), then you are good to go.

OK just the dialer then and contacts, not an issue there. Does yours still have the hot spot app? when you open it it then checks your service. I searched play store for the same app to no avail so I do not think I can just back it up.

You asked about CM11. It's there by default and works. I use it all the time. There is no app. Just go to settings and then choose "More..." and from there, choose "Tethering & portable hotspot".

If you are under stock, then you have to be rooted and then apply a Hotspot hack. No extra app is needed. There is no app store app that allows this. KK broke all of them.

Depending on which version of KK you are on (183.46.10 or 183.46.15), you need to follow the instructions listed in the postings I've linked below and you must be rooted:

183.46.10 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785106

183.46.15 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...d-native-tether-exploit-build-183-46-t2872547

One down TWRP, the TWRP manager app would not install TWRP, it kept coming back with the android on it side saying no command. Had to install (flash) from the command prompt and all went well.

Edit; on too step two. Installing CM11; wow backup etc. is slow.

Edit 2; On CM11......... :)

Edit 3; WiFi AP works right from the install, added it to the quick settings to turn it on and off.

Edit 4; CM11 almost got tossed. at first all was fine but on a reboot I lost my wifi and it would not connect to anything. After about an hour I finally took out DHCP and manually set it to static for the router and all was fine. It was weird as it kept cycling between connecting and then authenticating.

My concern though is my providers and other hot spot connections.

Edit 5; after joining the CM11 forums I see this is an issue and a bug report is open.

Thanks

This issue I don't have. Not sure if it's specific to certain routers or what but yes, going to a static IP fixes the issue.

Welcome to the world of CM11.

I do know that there is another issue, but it's across all AOSP ROMs and it only affects you if you have/watch videos via the Google Play TV & Movie app. Basically, it won't work. You won't be able to watch any movies/tv shows/videos you purchased/obtained via Google Play on your device. However, if you have a Chromecast, it will work that way since it's not streaming through the phone. Again, this is an issue across all AOSP ROMs. Stock ROMs are not affected by it. Not sure why.

I do not watch movies via Google play, I do either via Netflix on my tablet or my cable provider with its app on the phone and tablet. So far I am very happy with it. It does not seem though doing this is for the squeamish. If you panic easily then stay away.

Now the rewards, all I can say is wow. So much is hiding in Android just waiting there to be enjoyed. I did it for the better battery in 4.4.4 over 4.4.2 but there is so much more especially for the tweakers.

Again thanks, finding the nightly files was easy, the TWRP was the pain. There is a sea of files and unless you want a brick you have to be careful. Once installed properly the TWRP manager app works fine. Don't use it though even to install the proper TWRP img as it said it flashed but it fails (you will loose recovery), you have to adb from the command prompt. I already had this from doing the tablet on my PC.

Edit; both the cable app and Netflix work great.
