Help Anyone still noticing the blotchy screens?

Thanks. Watching Videos on my Galaxy Nexus is painful. In any low light situation the artifact/screen distortion is terrible. I had plans to return for a Razr since I have found several GNex owners with same complaint. Guess if they both have the same issue there is no point. Perhaps I should get the Rezound after all. So disappointed.

Unless you do alot of viewing outdoors you will not be disappointed with the screen on the Rezound. It is simply stunning. Movies look fantastic on the Rezound screen.
 
I am sticking with my "ignorance is bliss" strategy. I have not noticed it at all and will do NOTHING that makes me notice it- if there.

BTW, I am a little picky, so if has it during use (games, web, video, etc) I would have already, but you never know. Seems solid black to me, but will not go out of my way to replicate.

Agreed on the Rezound display (the good and bad), but it sux butt for game emulators due to the high pixel to area ratio. So apparently does the Nexus. Sure hope the devs catch up with this, since more 720p devices coming next year. If that IS the problem, of course.

That said, the other issue is the high pixel count is harder on emus like N64 and PSX. That is a factor and why they play faster when set to the games native res (small window on the phone, but plays faster).

BTW: So far, I have watched Animal House, Caddyshack, American Werewolf in London, Chapelle Show, Amazon Women on the Moon, Return of the Living Dead and several South Park episodes. They all played and looked GREAT on the Razr :)

This is where the card swapping is really nice, since can put good bit rate files on a card and use just for video :) No shutting down the device or file juggling :) :)
 
Yea I had it right up until the last day I had the Razr....it would drive me nuts if I was watching a YouTube video in a dimly lit room. The 1st unit I had it on was really bad, there were blotches everywhere. However the second just had it in 2 corners and a small, blotch smack in the middle of the screen. Was there ever a reason given as to what caused it?

Haven't seen it on my Galaxy Nexus screen, and it uses Pentile as well...Hmm? Could just be a Moto thing!

I am talking about GNex in general an dnot your specific phone. Yours may be fine, but that does not mean all of them are. Read the threads where it shows all Samsung-made SAMOLED screens have this.

Or he could just check the link I posted earlier in this thread showing the Nexus and the Note with the same issue.

Yes that very well could be! However I went through 3 Razrs and all of them had it!
Some just worse then the others

And specifically talking about Amoled and Super Amoled screens...I've owned both the Samsung Fascinate, and Droid Charge and never ever spotted any blotches on either of they're screens.

Now onto the GNex...It was one of the first things I looked for while looking at the demo and playing around with my friend's who actually is a manager for VZW and it wasn't present on his either.

Now onto mine...like I said, not seeing any blotches....Guess I'll just consider myself lucky.

Do this, go to someplace you can make completely dark like a bathroom. Open the camera and get it ready to record a movie. Turn off the lights in the bathroom, record a movie for 30 seconds or so. Then play it back. I bet you will see blotches.

All that being said, IMHO, most people are making a big deal over nothing. You can only see the blotches on a completely black screen in a very dark room. Sending back 10 devices is only going to give you variations of the blotching unless somehow you get a 1 in a million device that just happens to not exhibit the blotching.

Its just another thing you have to accept like the green/blue hues on white when the brightness is down low.

There is no perfect phone out there, believe me I have been trying to find it for several years, and they all have a drawback(s), bug(s), or technical issue(s) somewhere that's annoying.

For me:

Thunderbolt: Horrrid battery, bugs galore.
Incredible:Battery life, screen size
Droid X:Slow and laggy sometimes, screen refreshes
X2:Few annoying bugs
HTC Trophy: W7 missing some stuff I need
Droid RAZR: Tinted whites
Breakout: No App storage, meh Signal
 
i've got the problem but i only notice it when it's in the bedside dock, therefore i'm not gonna worry about it...im not gonna waste a device and exchange it for a few blotches on the screen that i can only see when in bedside mode.

Yet again you compare the Razr to phones that were probably manufactured using the old SAMOLED technology mentioned earlier. You seem not to be reading this whole thread and bringing up arguments that have already been discredited.
 
after over a month, 3 razr phones, verizon finally gave my 675 back and reset my upgrade. Great phone, but for 675 I can't have any screen flaws. Sorry.
