Root Anyone still rockin this phone

I've got a prevail laying around, and I'd like to flash something to it, It will be WiFi only and for games and music only. Going to give it to my 6 year old, and was wondering if there is a Rom/kernel that is more stable than others.

I see the ct mod Rom on top, so I'll try that first, but just looking for some suggestions.

Are there any other forums with Rom support for these phones?

CTMod is prolly your best choice. It is bare bones and gives option to counter the Prevail's lack of internal memory.

Bare bones helps squeeze the most out of the Prevail's meager assets.

So should I partition the sd before flashing it?

Just have one FAT32 partition on your sd-card, then follow the "Dummies Guide" to setup your sd-card and CTMod...... During this setup, you can choose the sdext partition size, depending on the full size of your card..... In My opinion, choosing a 1024 partition is plenty enough on a 4GB sd-card..... If you only have a 2GB card, choose 528......

CM7 with Kouma's SSM is nice too. I'm only using my Prevail on wifi and it's what I run. Runs like a champ too.

I'd moved to a different phone on Boost. But just less than a week ago I revived my Prevail. I'm rocking CTMod. I've been thinking about trying out some different roms. CM7 and maybe even Stock. I need a EXTREMELY reliable hot spot.

So I tried flashing the lastest ctmod and I get a status 1 error...

Idk what has been done to this phone, so I'm thinkin a factory IMG is probably my next step...just start fresh I guess

If Im not mistaking the error you are talking about occurs when you are flashing, correct? If so, in CWM, do the factory reset TWICE, wipe dalvik TWICE, reboot back into CWM, then reflash. It sounds weird but doing the reset/wipes 2X is what it takes most times.

Now im stumped though....

Every Rom I flash says successful. But they all boot loop...wtf

I have used Odin a couple times now, and have flashed the most recent cwm.nothing works

I'm gonna try wiping everything twice and see what happens
