Anyone taking it back tomorrow?

I just got the white one! I was stuck between Nexus, Razr(white), or Iphone! Decided Razr! Coming from an Epic 4g, this is way different! I don't like how you receive texts and it won't show you the number of them nor the pop up telling you that you have a message..... other than that, it's pretty cool! My co worker already blessed it by dropping it this morning. Luckily nothing happened! Not a single scratch!

I spent about 1/2 hour on the Nexus last night and was really bummed how much lag it had....especially after hitting the back button and especially in the browser. There were no extra apps running.

I made a number of compare tests vs. my RAZR (which I fully intended to return) and the RAZR won each time. Speed isn't the most important thing for me, but the very noticeable lag would drive me nuts. I even rebooted it. It also didn't respond as well to touch as the RAZR. The screen was the most impressive thing....truly fantastic.

I came from the Incredible to the RAZR and that blew away. Had I come from the Dinc to the GN that probably would have blown me away and I would have been fat, dumb and happy. But was very bummed on the RAZR to GN.

I'll try another store to see if if their demo unit does better.

Would be curious if others have compared the RAZR to the GN.

I compared it and also noticed a lag. It feels really cheap and plastic-y... which I didn't like! The back of the phone was already coming apart! The size is beautiful but didn't seem as durable as the RAZR. Just in my opinion. I was at the store for over an hour playing with them! Razr is definitely better!

This is a bit confusing--the Gnex review videos didn't seem that slow. Odd that now it's in the wild, it's behaving so differently. Might go hang back in the Gnex forum and see if that is a common issue.

I just posted a mini review. Gnex seemed zippy like the Razr to me, but did not test with a lot of apps. Razr owners IMO have the better device.

I use handcent sms. It allows the pop-ups, changes led notification light to chosen color when there is a text too, nice.

Also, I went to two stores today to check out the Gnex and both display phones had issues with the back falling off, one store had it taped on... so cheap! Screen was gorgeous though.

I was in the Gnex camp early on and then delay after delay after OG bugging the heck out of me...I just couldn't wait anymore. So I checked out the Razr and really liked the build quality and the screen was great and it was very quick. So I'm now a "Razr'ite". I don't see myself going to swap at all. Some very useful apps on the Razr I'd find hard to live without. I really like the stability, speed and Blur as well. Like the OP, I see no need to ROM this thing like I did the OG. I put the checkered Droid cover on it that has the built in stand and the clamshell belt connection and this thing feels PERFECT in hand now! Solid, well built, I love it! With that case on it, I cannot imagine a more perfect feel than what I have now. Really enjoying the Razr. Sometimes the second choice turns out better than the first!

I just saw a G Nex yesterday. The screen vs. the RAZR's is...odd. Its odd compared to the Bionics too.

Its just odd, period..lol. Engadget posted about it, calling it noisy. I see what they mean. It has a sparkly, glittery look to it.

Interesting... Do you have a link to that article?

I definitely think the black RAZR looks so much better and cohesive than the white one.
Anyone notice how long it takes to charge the Droid RAZR?

With the charger the Razr ships with, a few hours.

With USB via a computer or hub, about twice as long (or more).

After looking at the pros and cons of both phones I felt that the razr was the better device. I still feel that way to this day. Especially seeing all the problems the nexus is having. Meanwhile I have not had a single issue with razr at all. I would make the same choice to this day.

The good news is VZW basically has three good devices to choose from. If the Gnex can get the reception issues squared away, it will be even better than it is now (assuming the burn-in issue is false).

Still must admit I prefer the overall design of the Rezound, since feels much better in the hand (than the other two) and the battery options. Ironic that the strong suit of the Rezound is the display, but prefer the Razr, due to less glare, better contrast and better touch response.

Not to mention the Razr is an overall faster device and the Atrix lapdock with Webtop rocks. Still, if the Razr did not exist, I would have been happy with the Rezound, rather than the Gnex (due to sd slot and better radio reception than Gnex).

Added:

Radio reception first and then call quality are tops for me and THEN the other stuff. That said, call quality can be average as long as other things stand out :)

See.....what some ppl dont realize is that some folks actually had a choice and still chose the RAZR or Rezound if you got it after a certain day. I dont get it when some ppl say folks are justifying their purchase of other phones if they dont like or want the G Nex. Before the G Nex even launched....just based on history alone I really wasnt feeling it.

I did switch to a family plan to test one out, G Nex should be here next Tue or Wed. The more I read thru the G Nex forums....the more I feel I just wasted mine and Verizon's time...lol. Will get to at least play with ICS for a week. I really wanna test out the reception and battery life at home and work. I have a DX1 and RAZR I can compare it to....might find my battery for my Droid 1 and throw that in the mix for testing reception. I dont plan on testing multiple G Nex's tho. My luck with 1st devices has been stellar....except for the Omina 1...lol...

One pleasent surprise I didnt realize was by putting my DX1 on the plan I now have an upgrade available. Now I realize I can have 2 if I add my Droid 1...nice.

To have the second Android device discounted, don't you have to carry a second $30 data plan as well?

Yea, I think so. And only 4G phones are eligible for the double data discount.

Might keep the family plan and see if they eventually go to a shared data plan. That would be nice since I still got unlimited data with the RAZR, hopefully that can be shared and not tiered plans. .

A shared family data plan would be nice but I doubt if there would be any family unlimited plans. If they make the cost appealing lots of people may be persuaded to leave their unlimited behind. Everyone loves unlimited but if WiFi is used judiciously and readily available the value of unlimited may not be as important for some. I'm sitting today at 20 MB cell and 6470 MB WiFi with only 6 days left in my billing cycle as an example. I like the unlimited peace of mind but seldom use more than 1.5 GB of cell data and only have such a low amount this month due to extended Xmas vacation. The main things that drive up huge cell data numbers are likely video streaming and PC tethering.

I have seen some people post about using 20 GB or more cell data saying they will use as much as possible because it is "free" due to unlimited. If everyone on the unlimited LTE plan had this attitude we would soon start seeing slower LTE performance and more aggressive migration away from unlimited for the rest of us.

Most using that much are doing "free" tethering and using their connection as broadband. Abusers (that use as home broadband) end up getting all of us abused.

Will be interested to hear your opinion of the Gnex. I *may* be getting one in the near future myself.

You wont believe it....but stuff I forgot about with the G Nex that didnt have to do with reception.... I reminded myself about by posting at another site....I think I still have G Nex fever...lol.

I'm thinking about not even opening it and sending it back...

I stopped following the Gnex a while ago...aside from the radio issues, what else its it struggling with? Apps are being converted to ICS, so I don't see that being the issue.

Nothing like the reception issues...just some stuff I forgot about: sd card, according to Anandtech's Bench tool it has very low talk time battery life. So out the box it has overall alot lower battery life than the RAZR.

I never compromised with battery life or reception yet...RAZR had me worried for awhile with battery life...lol. So I get the G Nex and off the break I will need an extended battery or have to do the custom ROM/kernel just to get decent battery life? Maybe its turning off NFC....dont really know...I havent decided if I'll test it or it goes straight back yet since it hasnt come yet.....been lurking the G Nex sections looking for battery life tips just in case.

Dont plan on lurking the root section unless I keep it so using custom ROMs/kernels wont help me for testing it. All I know is I didnt have to go the custom ROM route for my DX1 or RAZR to get good battery life. I always judge these phones on out the box performance.
