ive got the esteem and its great but its time to move on, im waiting on the new lg coming out in september codenamed f180, its got specs to surpass the gs3, not too worried about which carrier i get as long as its better than metros pos service and internet speed, seriously im in los angeles and getting like .5 mbps on the unlimited data plan... anyone else thinking of upgrading soon and to which carrier and phone choice

Yeah but it might be a bit more expensive and for crappier speeds. To me a badass phone with slow ass data is crap.
So? Their network is too damn slow. And even if they do get it you can count on it being gimped out. They always cut back the specs on phones that they offer and then try to charge top dollar for them.
But apparently.. All u.s. Models of the gs3 are the same

Half of the reason the s3 is so successful is because they didn't let carriers modify it.

I plan on stayin on metro till i atleast see how people are doing with there s3 i had planned on going to straighttalk but i dont like that ur pretty much left on the boat by urself when it comes to warranty or insurance..

I'm a commercial building engineer at a large office park. The tallest of our buildings is 14 stories and is a cell tower for 3 of the big 4 (not enough room at the moment for Verizon). Because the equipment is located in a plenum (building ventilation) area, each carrier has their own equipment in sealed rooms that they built themselves. We also bill each carrier for the electricity they use. Over the years I've noticed some things about the carriers that may explain how good their networks are.
Sprint is by far the worst. Their rooftop cables that lead to their arrays could be damaged by storms and they take a couple of weeks to come out for repairs. They don't seem to come out to do routine maintenance as much either. A week ago they took out the Nextel Equipment they had but we have no word of when LTE will be installed in its place. They also have the worst track record of communicating with my department and will just pop up one day to do major work. Their doghouse (that's what they call the room with their equipment) is a mess. They use about 2000-2500 kwh of electricity per month.
T-Mobile is pretty quiet. They come out for repairs but they haven't had any major upgrades in over 2 years. Oddly people who have T-Mobile have spotty reception on the upper floors of the building but this may be due to interference from the other carriers equipment being so close or something I don't know. Their equipment room is small but fairly well organized. They use the least amount of electricity about 1300 kwh a month.
AT&T Is by far the best (remember Verizon is not at my building so I don't know how good they are). They are constantly coming out to do upgrades, routine maintenance, and repairs. Even if the cooling unit is a few degrees off they send a tech out immediately. They are also the best at communicating and always call beforehand to schedule any mid to major work that needs to be done. Their room is spotless and well lit. Their room is also the largest by far with well organized racks. They use a whopping 11,000 kwh of power per month.
I don't know how good or bad these companies do elsewhere and I Don't know if this helps but I figured I'd put it out there.

The thing for me is that about 95% of the time I am near a WiFi hotspot. I agree that metro 4g is very inconsistent but it works for what I use it for. Another thing is that the phone's battery dies very quickly. My esteem works very well and I just bought a brand new tablet that works very well. More often than not I find myself using the tablet than the phone.

I think im just gonna go with tmobile. its only 30 bucks a month for unlimited text, 5gb of 4g data, and 100 minutes. I dont even use minutes, if i do only like 1 minute per call. straight talk is good for people who like to call since its unlimited but the data thing would affect me at times since it only lets you download 100 mb a day, and its against their terms to stream video like youtube and netflix. and the galaxy nexus is only 350 and its pure vanilla. the gs3 is nice but seeing it in person, imo is too girly lol. the nexus is beast and it looks more for guys.

ATT ripped my dad off four years ago. They charged him a whooping one thousand dollars because I went over the texting limit. The funny thing was that I had unlimited texting.. my dad called and got it straightened out so he didn't have to pay. Next month same thing happened except it was with minutes this time. I went past the limits even though we had unlimited minutes. How?!?! It was only $600 this time. Again, he called and didn't pay. The next month my dad was billed $300 because I used too much internet (that's what they said lol) even though I didn't open up my internet app once. My dad finally said "**** this" and we made the move to metro

I was with metro then i switched to T mobile in early June. Now I'm back on metro beverage i was paying $60 on T mobile 4g with only 2gb of data.
Now that wasn't enough for me honestly. Sure T mobile have amazing speeds but it's all for nothing after you get throttled.......
Currently I'm happy with my on metro with my lg connect paying $60 a month for 5gb of 4g whIch is plenty for me to go along with decent speeds
But if i did want to switch it would be either for at&t or sprint and then go for a galaxy nexus lol

I'm probably going to switch because I was recently moved into a building at work where I get no recepetion (although I am showing bars, even with roaming off - regardless it kills my battery fast and when I try to make a call I get "Your account cannot be validated). Probably going to switch to Ting.com because I like the idea behind their pricing model (you pay for what you use).
