anyone try the data only plan for $50 and VOIP??

I was wondering if anyone had tried the data only plan for the droid. It is $50/month (total cost of plan before taxes etc). I was thinking of trying it and using VOIP for calling. Let me know how VOIP calls are with the droid if you don't mind.

Anyone use a VOIP app yet? What kind of call quality do you get with any VOIP service?

See if you can find a VoIP application first. Many of them have been kicked out by the cell providers and made unavailable on their networks.

skype is supposed to work on the droid...haven't tried it b/c I don't need it but if you wanna try it it's supposed to work.

I thought the skype was only their chat client?

Take it back looks like skype light beta does allow for VoIP calls.

No luck with the VOIP through Skype, chat only. I was trying to set it up for calling home from overseas via wifi, but calling is not available...not even the phone feature. Heck, my iPod touch would do that!

I do not have my Driod yet but I plan to try out VoIP once I do.

FYI, the $50 data-only plan doesn't seem to be an option. The reason I'm still Droid-less is because I ordered it online with the $50/mo plan. VZW held up my order. I talked to them this morning and they told me the data-only plan isn't offered with the Droid. Now I've got the $40 + $30 plan.
