Anyone upgraded their S2 on Orange yet ?

I'm interested to know what device upgrade Orange is offering S2 owners, on the same contract. For example, are people being offered an S4 on the same terms, or are Orange charging you extra for the S4 ?

I'm currently in talks with Orange about upgrading my S2, which was free on my contract 2 years ago, but they now want me to pay a few hundred pounds to upgrade to an S4. They claim it's due to the S4 being higher spec in comparison to other phones than the S2 was in 2011. Sounds like BS to me ;)

Depends on the rules of the carrier. It doesn't matter much really what phone you currently own, unless you're probably turning the phone in as a trading chip as well. For example, I moved from a Galaxy S1 to a Galaxy S3 mini because that's what they offered me for free. The case being that my carrier gives you a phone discount that is worth 10x your monthly contract. So the Galaxy S was free when I got it because it was worth 10x the contract I got at the time (it was already cheaper since the SII was out at that time). The S3 mini was free for me because the selling price in my country was 10x my monthly's worth. The S3 was 15x so I needed to fork out cash for that if I wanted it.

You should also look at the phone's value. Don't worry, if you wait a bit, the pricing will go down. A couple of months ago, I'd have to shell out an additional $200 if I wanted to get a Note II on a contract the same value as my current one. Now its free.

Thanks for the answer guys.

Yes, I'm aware that the carrier can't make a loss, certainly not to new customers.

In 2011, I got an S2 for free, and that was a
