Anyone use DLNA?

I've just attempted to turn my PC into a DLNA server for the first time. My phone can see my PC in the list of "Nearby devices," but it takes an absolute age (about 3 minutes) to load my songs (about 4,700) and when I try to play a song, it just sends me to the playlist screen rather than actually playing it.

Is it likely to be the phone or the PC that's being really slow here?

DLNA is not the absolute best service for this type of thing. You could find alternatives in the Play Store that do this soooo much faster than DLNA.

Works wonderfully on my Samsung TV, terrible on my windows xp computer but fine on my windows 7.

Try Qloud Media.

I've been using it for a very long time now and it's brilliant. Not only can you stream music, videos and images from your computer to your phone via wifi, you can also do it whilst out and about :)

I have a similar experience with DLNA on my S3. I have about 2000 songs loaded and when I click File Sharing under DLNA, it tales about 3 minutes for the File Sharing tab to get checked. After that, my S3 can be seen by my computer or PS3 no problem.

With the PS3, once the S3 is found, when I click play on a song, it takes a LONG time to start playing.

Anybody got suggestions for alternatives from the Play Store?
