anything better than Peel to use as TV remote

I have a Sanyo TV and Scientific Atlanta DVR. My several tries using Peel Smart Remote has been more frustrating than anything else.
I like the idea of using the Galaxy Tab 2 as a remote but that program doesn't do anything for me.
Can anyone recommend an app, preferably free or low cost, that would allow me to use the tablet as a remote?

I got one called touchsquid that works pretty well. I have it synced with my TV, bluray, receiver, and DVR.
