Help Anything I can do to save battery while using Wifi hotspot?

I've got the screen turned off and have SetCPU to downclock at that time, but my wall charger still can't keep up with the power usage and I can see my battery going down one percent every few minutes. I've got pretty much everything disabled except Wifi hotspot too. My phone is a LG Optimus V, if that matters.

ive had this problem since I discovered the wifi hotspot in quicksettings, thanks to this forum. I just downclock the cpu when I am using the phone for hotspot, mine lasts about 6-8 hours like that on a full charge, luckily my cousin has a optimus v as well, so we just swap batteries and keep going. Your battery will run out with hotspot on and wall charger plugged in. sorry.

Well that's disappointing. Any idea whether there's any batteries compatible with the Optimus V other than the LG OEM ones (that might be better and/or cheaper)? And whether there's an external battery charger for them (so I can charge the second battery while the first is in the phone)?

And interestingly enough, the price of the Optimus V has shot up dramatically, to as much as $270 in some places...guess I'm lucky I picked it up day 1 for only $150 (with a few extras Radioshack bundled in for only $10).

thanks to you people tethering. virgin mobile just put a 10gb cap on phones.
thanks a lot.

What? When did this happen?

And honestly, when are you going to use 10GB of data just on a phone? Unless all you do is watch HD Youtube videos on your phone all day or something. Besides, I think Virgin Mobile already had an unwritten 5GB cap, considering their "unlimited" mobile broadband was capped at that amount (now it looks like they bumped it down to 2.5GB's...weird).

Anyway, the only reason I'd ever tether my phone would be if I absolutely needed internet access (for school or something) and wasn't near a wifi spot or home; 3G is too slow/unreliable to be doing any big downloads on, IMO.

In any case, I went to the topic musick linked to and ended up buying a two battery and charger combo for $10, hopefully it'll work.
